Last Friday, the Lakers returned on a losing track. With Luka Doncic (personal) and LeBron James (foot) both on the sidelines, the Lakers couldn’t cope with the Celtics, losing 126-105 at TD Garden in Boston. However, the Lakers’ defense leaves a lot to be desired. After finishing their three-game homestand with consecutive wins against the Washington Wizards 121-102 and the Golden State Warriors 99-98, the 76ers beat the Milwaukee Bucks 116-101 on the road this past Friday.
The Sixers had a 20-point halftime lead at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee and never looked back. Philadelphia went 17-for-43 from downtown and 21-for-22 from the foul line. Quentin Grimes led the way for the Sixers with 22 points off the bench, while Paul George had 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Joel Embiid didn’t play against the Bucks, as it was the back end of a back-to-back set for the 76ers. He should be ready for Sunday’s clash against the Lakers. Embiid has appeared in just eight games this season, averaging 18.5 points and 5.4 rebounds. Tyrese Maxey leads the charge for Phila with 31.6 points and 7.1 assists per game.

Anyway, the Lakers will need a solid defensive performance if they want to beat the 76ers. Tyrese Maxey was quiet against Milwaukee, but he had scored 35 or more points in three straight outings before the Bucks game.
I expect Maxey to torture the Lakers’ backcourt. Also, I have more trust in Philadelphia’s defense, though the Sixers have had a few rough defensive displays over the last two weeks.
