The Los Angeles Lakers (8-4) and the Milwaukee Bucks (7-5) clash on Saturday night in a battle of two recent championship teams in this Lakers vs. Bucks prediction. This will be the second game in two nights for both teams, as the Lakers play in New Orleans on Friday night, while the Bucks host the Hornets (This article was published before Friday's results). Tipoff is set for 8:00 EST and can be found on NBATV. See below for our Lakers vs. Bucks prediction, and check out all of our winning NBA Predictions!

Los Angeles Continues Their Road Trip

The Los Angeles Lakers are in the middle of a five-game road trip, having already played the first three games on their journey. The Lakers won in Charlotte, but also lost in Atlanta and Oklahoma City before travelling to New Orleans on Friday and taking on the Bucks on Saturday. The Lakers are still playing without LeBron James, but have won six of their last eight games while staying alive early in the Western Conference.

In their most recent game, the Lakers got blown out by the Thunder, led by Luka Doncic with 19 points in the loss. Doncic has been their best player this season, and his 19-point performance against the Thunder is the first time he scored under 20 points so far in the regular season. Doncic is averaging 34.9 PPG, 9.1 RPG and 8.9 APG to fill out an absurd stat line to start the year. Austin Reaves is playing the best ball of his career. Some worry he will have to take a step back when LeBron returns, but is getting 28.3 PPG and 8.3 APG. Rui Hachimura has yet to miss a game; he is shooting a red-hot 51.1% from beyond the arc, while adding 16.0 PPG.

Deandre Ayton is getting 15.5 PPG and 7.5 RPG on the inside for the Lakers, while Jake LaRavia has been a welcome surprise with 11.1 PPG. The Lakers are 14th in offensive efficiency and 18th in defensive efficiency according to dunksandthrees.com. Los Angeles is ranked 25th in the league in pace of play based on their possessions per game.

Injury Report:

  • Out: LeBron James, Gabe Vincent, Adou Theiro

Bucks on Back to Back

The Milwaukee Bucks are playing their second game in two nights, as they host the Hornets on Friday before this matchup. This will give them two consecutive games against Charlotte, as they lost on the road by 111 against the Hornets in their previous game. The Bucks are 7-5 on the year, and third in the Central Division behind the Pistons and Cavaliers. In their most recent game against Charlotte, Milwaukee got 25 points from Ryan Rollins in the loss.

Rollins has come out of nowhere to take over the starting point guard spot for the Bucks. The 23-year-old out of Toledo is their second leading scorer with 17.3 PPG and 5.7 APG. The Bucks still stop and go with Giannis Antetokounmpo; he is averaging 33.4 PPG on 62.9% shooting from the field. Giannis is also getting 11.9 PPG and 6.2 RPG, staying near the top of the MVP rankings as he has over the past five seasons. Kyle Kuzma has been coming off the bench and adding another 13.3 PPG and 4.2 RPG.

Myles Turner came over from the Pacers in the offseason, he is getting 12.4 PPG and 6.3 RPG in his first season with Milwaukee. AJ Green and Gary Trent Jr. fill out spots on the perimeter as outside shooters. The Bucks are 10th in offensive efficiency and 20th in defensive efficiency. Milwaukee is 20th in the league in possessions per game.

Injury Report:

  • Questionable: Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee)
  • Out: Taurean Prince, Kevin Porter Jr.

Lakers vs. Bucks Picks and Predictions

Spread pick for Lakers vs. Bucks

  • Bucks to cover (5 units)

These teams are both on their second game in two nights, but Milwaukee does not need to travel, while Los Angeles will be on the road. The Lakers have to travel from New Orleans to Milwaukee in one night, while the Bucks have to play a Hornets team that is not known for their defensive intensity. Giannis has been healthy, and even though he is popping up on the questionable list, he is not one to sit out games when he is not injured. The Lakers showed weakness against the Thunder, as OKC ran them off the floor by winning by 29. Milwaukee is at home, will be the fresher team, with one of the best players on the planet.

Take the Bucks to cover

Over/Under Pick for Lakers vs. Bucks

  • Under (4 units)

These are two of the slowest-paced teams in the league, and will both be playing their second game in two nights. This will be an easy under. The best two players in this game are Luka and Giannis, and while each star gets out in transition when applicable, both players like to slow the game down with iso-ball. If the stars are out there, the game will be slow, but if they aren't, the teams will need to rely on backup players as each team goes deeper into their bench in this back-to-back. Milwaukee is only 20th in the league in pace of play, with the Lakers playing even slower at 25th. This will be a low-scoring game.

Take the under.
