Memphis Grizzlies (18-27) vs. New Orleans Pelicans (12-37)

The NBA betting action goes on Friday, January 30, 2026, with the Memphis Grizzlies squaring off against the New Orleans Pelicans in the Southwest Division battle at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA, so here’s our Grizzlies vs. Pelicans prediction.

Memphis and New Orleans close down their four-game regular-season series. The Grizzlies are 2-1 SU and ATS, but the Pelicans won their previous encounter, beating Memphis 133-127 as 5-point road underdogs this past Friday.

Let’s take a closer look at this Grizzlies vs. Pelicans prediction, one of our NBA picks for Friday’s card. The tip-off at Smoothie King Center is set at 7:30 PM ET.

The Grizzlies hope to stop their four-game slide

The Memphis Grizzlies (18-27; 19-26 ATS; 19-26 O/U) haven’t won consecutive games in more than a month and are winless in four straight outings (1-3 ATS). During that four-game stretch, the Grizzlies have lost against the Atlanta Hawks 124-122, the New Orleans Pelicans 133-127, the Houston Rockets 108-99, and the Charlotte Hornets 112-97.

Memphis couldn’t hit a 100-point mark in its previous two outings. Against Houston, the Grizzlies shot 37.1% from the field (7-for-37 from downtown). Versus Charlotte, Memphis made 45.7% of its field goals (14-for-40 from deep), but the Grizzlies allowed 17 3-pointers and were outrebounded 43-29 on the night.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 26 points against the Hornets. He leads the way for Memphis with 19.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, while Santi Aldama tallies 14.0 points and 6.3 boards a night. Ja Morant (19.5 PPG, 8.1 APG) and Zach Edey (13.6 PPG, 11.1 RPG) are both out with injuries. Aldama missed the Hornets game with a knee injury and is questionable for Friday night.

The Grizzlies are 3.5 games behind the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference. They score 112.9 points per 100 possessions (25th in the NBA) and allow 114.4 points in return (11th). The Grizzlies make just 34.7% of their shots from deep (tied for 22nd).

The Pelicans look to get back on track

The New Orleans Pelicans (12-37; 14-11-1 ATS; 25-24 O/U) just finished their three-game road trip with a 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS record. After consecutive wins over the Memphis Grizzlies 133-127 and the San Antonio Spurs 104-95, the Pelicans fought bravely in a 104-95 defeat at the reigning NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Pelicans committed just nine turnovers last Tuesday, covering a 14.5-point spread in Oklahoma City. However, New Orleans made just 34.3% of its field goals (10-for-40 from downtown). Zion Williamson double-doubled with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Saddiq Bey posted a line of 16 points, 13 boards, and five assists.

Bey has done a great job. Last Friday, he dropped 36 points on Memphis. Bey tallies 15.9 points and 5.8 assists per game this season, Williamson averages 22.0 points and 6.2 rebounds, and Trey Murphy III adds 21.9 points and 6.0 boards a night.

The Pelicans are 11.5 games behind the No. 10 seed in the West. New Orleans scores 113.2 points per 100 possessions (24th in the league) and surrenders 119.8 points in return (27th). The Pelicans are dead last in the NBA in 3-point percentage (33.7%).

Grizzlies vs. Pelicans Pick

Spread Pick for Grizzlies vs. Pelicans

  • New Orleans Pelicans (4 units)

Surprisingly, the Pelicans have played solid defense in their last two outings. They held the Thunder to 40.2% shooting from the field. I don’t say that I trust the Pels, but I like them in this spot. New Orleans had enough time to rest from its successful road trip, and the Pelicans are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.

On the other side, the Grizzlies have struggled a lot lately and are 4-10 ATS in their previous 14 games overall. Ja Morant’s future in Memphis is uncertain, while Zach Edey’s injury is a big blow to the Grizzlies’ frontcourt.

Over/Under Pick for Grizzlies vs. Pelicans

  • Over (4 units)

Last Friday, these two teams provided a proper firecracker. The Pelicans overcame a 13-point deficit, outlasting the Grizzlies 40-26 in the fourth quarter. Both teams shot well, combining for 31 3-pointers, and the Pelicans went 28-for-33 from the foul line.

I don’t expect to see 270 points on the scoreboard once more, but I still have to take the over, despite the Pelicans’ improvement on defense in their last two outings. Both teams love to play fast. The Grizzlies register 101.2 possessions per 48 minutes (tied for 5th in the NBA), while the Pelicans record 100.3 possessions per 48 minutes (12th).

The over has hit in five of the previous six encounters between Memphis and New Orleans.
