The Heat Were Crushed by The Wolves

Miami heads into Chicago on Thursday trying to shake off a lopsided 122–94 defeat in Minnesota, their second loss to the Timberwolves in four days. The Heat were overwhelmed by the Wolves’ size and pace, shooting just 35.7% from the field and getting hammered on the glass, 64–50. Norman Powell led Miami with 21 points, while Tyler Herro returned from an 11‑game absence to score 17 off the bench, but Bam Adebayo was held to just seven points on 3‑of‑11 shooting. Miami turned it over 18 times, which Minnesota converted into 21 points, and the game slipped away in the third quarter when the Wolves outscored them 32–23. It was a sobering reminder of how vulnerable the Heat can look when their offense stalls and they’re forced to play from behind against a physical front line.

Even with that setback, Miami’s season numbers remain strong. They average 120.1 points per game (3rd), shoot 37% from three (7th), and rebound at a top‑10 clip with 45.6 per game. Defensively, they allow 117.4 points (19th), but the underlying metrics are better — opponents shoot just 45.9% overall (5th) and 34.4% from deep (4th), though Miami’s weakness has been giving up too many second‑chance looks, ranking 27th in defensive rebounding. Against Chicago, the keys are clear: Adebayo has to reassert himself inside, Herro’s return needs to spark perimeter balance, and Powell must continue to provide scoring punch. If the Heat can clean up the glass and limit turnovers, they’ll give themselves a chance to bounce back quickly against a Bulls team that has been inconsistent defensively.

Bulls Struggle To Score Against Detroit

Chicago dropped its third straight game in a 108–93 home loss to Detroit, undone by poor shooting and turnovers. Nikola Vucevic posted 20 points and 16 rebounds, rookie Matas Buzelis added 20 points with four threes, and Ayo Dosunmu led the way with 24 points on 10‑of‑15 shooting, but the rest of the backcourt struggled. The Bulls shot just 43% overall, committed 17 turnovers, and were outscored 58–44 in the paint, never recovering after falling behind in the second quarter.

For the season, Chicago averages 117.8 points per game (12th) while shooting 47.3% from the field (13th) and 35.9% from three (16th), with a strong rebounding presence at 45.6 per game (7th). Defensively, though, they’ve been vulnerable, allowing 121.6 points (26th) and opponents hitting 47.3% overall (20th) and 36.7% from deep (21st). Against Miami, the Bulls must lean on Vucevic’s inside scoring and rebounding, get consistent perimeter production from Buzelis and Dosunmu, and tighten up defensively to limit the Heat’s balanced attack. With Josh Giddey and Jalen Smith out, Chicago’s margin for error shrinks, making ball security and defensive rebounding critical if they want to snap their skid against one of the East’s top offenses. They’ll also need sharper guard play to offset Miami’s perimeter pressure, and a collective effort to avoid the long scoring droughts that have plagued them in recent losses. If Chicago can keep the pace controlled and avoid giving the Heat easy transition buckets, they’ll have a fighting chance to stop the slide.

Heat vs Bulls Spread Pick

  • Miami -6.5 (5 Units)

Miami -6.5 looks like the right side given the scheduling and roster dynamics. The Heat are coming in rested after their loss in Minnesota, while Chicago is on the second night of a back‑to‑back and already dealing with depth issues from the absences of Josh Giddey and Jalen Smith. Miami’s offense ranks 3rd in the league at 120.1 points per game, and they’re top‑10 in both three‑point shooting and rebounding, which should put pressure on a Bulls defense that sits 26th in points allowed (121.6). Add in the fact that Chicago has dropped three straight and just got outscored in the paint and beaten on the glass by Detroit, and the Heat’s balance plus fresher legs give them a clear edge to cover the number.

Heat vs Bulls Over/Under Pick

  • Under 241.5 (4 Units)

The Under 241.5 lines up well with how these teams match up. Miami’s offense is potent, ranking 3rd in scoring at 120.1 points per game, but the Heat also defend at a top‑five level in opponent field‑goal percentage and three‑point percentage. Chicago, meanwhile, has dropped three straight and just managed 93 points against Detroit, with depth issues showing as Josh Giddey and Jalen Smith remain out. The Bulls average 117.8 points per game, but their inconsistency and tendency to stall against stronger defenses make it tough to envision them pushing this total into the 240s. With Miami rested and capable of controlling tempo, and Chicago playing on no rest with limited offensive options, the Under looks like the sharper side.
