Grizzlies defends home court in season opener

Memphis opens the season with a win at home. They opened with a game against New Orleans on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

In their last game, Memphis defeated the Pelicans 128-122. New Orleans held a substantial lead in the second half before Memphis went on a 27-6 run to take the lead. The Grizzlies shot 51.2% from the field and 29.7% from behind the arc. Memphis did turn the ball over 17 times, which led to 21 points. This was a massive game for Ja Morant; he scored 35 points, shooting 12-for-20 from the field.

Last season, Memphis finished with a 48-34 record and they ended in 8th place in the West. The Grizzlies lost in the first round of action. Memphis did fire former head coach Taylor Jenkins in the final few games of the season. They did make some key moves in the offseason. They resigned Santi Aldama and Jaren Jackson Jr. The team also added Ty Jerome and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The team’s big loss was Desmond Bane, who they traded over to Orlando.

On the injury report, Zach Edey is out with an ankle injury, while Scotty Pippen Jr., Brandon Clarke and Ty Jerome are also missing. Vince Williams Jr. is questionable with a heel injury.
