Miami meets San Antonio for the first time this season. The Heat swept a two-game set against the Spurs in 2024-25 (128-107 at home and 105-103 on the road), and San Antonio is winless in five straight meetings with Miami.

The Heat shoot for their fourth straight W
The Miami Heat (3-1; 4-0 ATS; 3-1 O/U) started their 2025-26 campaign with a 125-121 defeat at the Orlando Magic. Since then, the Heat have won three straight games over the Memphis Grizzlies 146-114, the New York Knicks 115-107, and the Charlotte Hornets 144-117.

Miami trounced Charlotte this past Tuesday, covering a 4.5-point spread with ease. The Heat made 54.2% of their field goals (20-for-45 from deep) while posting an excellent 34/11 assist-to-turnover ratio. Jaime Jaquez Jr. went off for 28 points and five assists in 28 minutes on the floor, while Bam Adebayo notched 26 points and six rebounds.
Norman Powell (24.0 PPG, 7.3 RPG) sat out the Hornets game with a groin injury and is doubtful for Thursday’s clash against the Spurs, while Nikola Jovic (11.3 PPG, 5.0 RPG) is questionable due to a hip injury. Tyler Herro is still recovering from a foot injury, while Terry Rozier is out indefinitely after being arrested as part of an FBI sports betting probe.
The Spurs hope to remain undefeated
The San Antonio Spurs (4-0; 3-1 ATS; 1-3 O/U) are off to a strong start, as they’ve won their first four games of the season. After a couple of road wins against the Dallas Mavericks 125-92 and the New Orleans Pelicans 120-116 in overtime, the Spurs have recorded home wins over the Brooklyn Nets 118-107 and the Toronto Raptors 121-103.
The Spurs cruised past the Raptors this past Monday, leading from start to finish and by as many as 22 points. San Antonio shot 58.2% from the field (13-for-27 from deep) and 83.3% from the foul line (30-for-36). Victor Wembanyama double-doubled with 24 points and 15 rebounds, and Stephon Castle added 22 points and five boards.
San Antonio has done a great job thus far despite missing its starting point guard, De’Aaron Fox (hamstring). Jeremy Sochan is still waiting for his season debut while recovering from a wrist injury, while Luke Kornet (8.0 PPG, 8.0 RPG) won’t play against the Heat due to an ankle injury.
Heat vs. Spurs Pick
Spread Pick for Heat vs. Spurs
- San Antonio Spurs (4 units)
The Heat are fourth in the NBA in adjusted defensive efficiency (107.6 points allowed per 100 possessions). They know what they are doing, but containing Victor Wembanyama in the paint will be a tall task for the Heat. Wemby has been unstoppable through the previous four games, and the Spurs are a top-three team in both defensive and offensive rebound percentage.
The Spurs boast the best defensive rating in the league, yielding just 104.9 points per 100 possessions. They had two days to prepare for this game, and I expect the Spurs to satisfy the odds.
Over/Under Pick for Heat vs. Spurs
- Under (4 units)
As I noted above, these two teams have done a great job on the defensive side of the ball thus far. Both clubs are defending the 3-point line at a high level. The Spurs are yielding just 11.8 triples per 100 possessions on a 34.8 percentage clip, and the Heat are allowing 13.5 3-pointers per 100 possessions on a 33.1 percentage clip.
Miami plays at a furious pace, tallying 107.5 possessions per 48 minutes (1st in the NBA). San Antonio records 97.0 possessions per 48 minutes (tied for 26th), and the Spurs will try everything they can to slow things down in this game. Controlling the defensive glass will be key for the Spurs.
San Antonio doesn’t lean on 3-pointers a lot. Miami does, but the Heat will probably miss their leading scorer, Norman Powell. Give me the under.
