Milwaukee Drops Three Straight
The animosity is growing surrounding the Milwaukee Bucks, as their fans booed the team at home recently, leading star player Giannis Antetokounmpo to boo the fans back. Things have not been good since then, as they have lost four of their last five, including three straight coming into this afternoon showdown in Atlanta. The Bucks are now 11th in the East, a game and a half behind these Hawks who sit in 10th.
Their most recent game was the loss against the Spurs, they got outscored in the 3rd quarter 40-16, and the game was never close again. Giannis scored 21 points in the loss, and is still the team's most productive player as he leads the team with 28.8 PPG and 9.5 RPG. Milwaukee will eventually have to make a decision on Giannis, do they trade him before he can walk in free agency, or gamble on him coming back? Either way, Milwaukee still needs more help, Kevin Porter Jr. is doing what he can as their second leading scorer getting 17.1 PPG and 7.5 APG.
Ryan Rollins has become their starting point guard this season, he is averaging 16.2 PPG and 5.5 APG. Bobby Portis continues to provide energy off the bench, he is getting 13.0 PPG and 6.5 RPG. The Bucks rank 12th in offensive efficiency and 20th in defensive efficiency according to dunksandthrees.com. Milwaukee plays slow, ranking 24th in the league in possessions per game.

Hawks Navigate Life without Young
The Atlanta Hawks traded away Trae Young, who served as the face of the franchise over the past several seasons. Atlanta welcomed in CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert from Washington in the trade, inΒ their last game McCollum was in the starting lineup, with Kispert coming off the bench for their new team. Atlanta has lost their last three coming into this matchup. They just took on Boston, and were led by Onyeka Okongwu with 21 points in the loss.
Okongwu is a 6'10 25-year old who continues to improve in the league, this season he is getting 16.4 PPG and 7.9 RPG. He was previously a role player for Atlanta, but has moved into the starting lineup this year and has seen his numbers increase. Their top scorer is Jalen Johnson, who could potentially make his first All-Star appearance this season. Johnson is getting 22.8 PPG and 10.1 RPG, but has been quiet as of late where he has only scored 12 points in each of his last two games. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is having a breakout season, adding 20.4 PPG on the perimeter.
CJ McCollum has now played four games for Atlanta, in his four games he is scoring 17.0 PPG. Kristaps Porzingis is still bothered by an Achilles injury, and will likely miss this game. Atlanta is ranked 19th in both offensive and defensive efficiency. The Hawks play much faster than Milwaukee, ranking 4th in pace of play.
Injury Report for Bucks vs. Hawks:
Bucks:
- Out: Taurean Prince
Hawks:
- Out: Kristaps Porzingis, Zaccharie Risacher
- Questionable: Dyson Daniels
Bucks vs. Hawks Picks and Predictions
Spread pick for Bucks vs. Hawks
- Bucks +2.5 (5 units)
Both of these rosters have gone through some turnover recently, but Giannis is still slated to play, and is going up against an injured Atlanta frontline. Porzingis will miss this game, and he would have been their best option to challenge Giannis at the rim. Risacher is also out, removing another big body from the Atlanta lineup. Milwaukee has lost three straight, but so has Atlanta, the Bucks will have the best player on the floor, and have enough complementary pieces to cover this number. Rollins and Porter are a capable backcourt pair, and will help feed the ball to Giannis here in a Milwaukee cover.
Take the Bucks with the points.
Over/Under Pick for Bucks vs. Hawks
- Under 231 (4 units)
The Bucks are slight underdogs here, but will still be able to control the tempo with Giannis on the floor. Antetokounmpo likes to play at a slow pace, sure there are some breakaway dunks, but for the most part he plays in the half court and likes to attack the basket after blowing by his opponent. The Hawks are short handed without Porzingis, Risacher, and possible Dainels. Even some of the pieces they have are new, which does not bode well for offensive chemistry. This is a rare 1:00 EST start, do not expect the offenses to be ready here.
Take the under.
