The Bucks lack consistency
It's been an underwhelming season for the Milwaukee Bucks (15-20; 16-19 ATS; 15-20 O/U), who have yet to win three straight games this term. They’ve won three of their previous four games overall while going 2-2 against the number.
On New Year’s Eve, the Bucks missed a nice chance to extend their winning streak to three games. They suffered a 114-113 defeat against the Washington Wizards, playing as 10.5-point home favorites. The Bucks bounced back last Friday, outlasting the Charlotte Hornets 122-121 as 6-point home favorites.
Giannis Antetokounmpo posted a 33-point, 15-rebound double-double versus Washington. Against Charlotte, Antetokounmpo went off for 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, scoring the winning basket with 4.7 seconds left on the clock.
Antetokounmpo tallies 29.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game, but the Bucks need to improve as a team if they want to reach the postseason. Milwaukee is 11th in the Eastern Conference, a game and a half behind the No. 10 seed. The Bucks score 114.1 points per 100 possessions (22nd in the NBA) and allow 116.9 points in return (18th).
The Kings continue to struggle
The Sacramento Kings (8-27; 12-23 ATS; 16-19 O/U) are having a horrible season. They’ve only won two of their previous 12 games overall and are winless in four straight outings. The Kings haven’t covered the spread during that four-game losing streak.
Sacramento opened the new calendar year with a 120-106 home loss against the Boston Celtics on New Year’s Day. On the second day of a back-to-back, the Kings suffered a 129-102 road loss at the Phoenix Suns, making just 41.2% of their field goals (10-for-28 from deep).
Keegan Murray scored 23 points against Phoenix, while Russell Westbrook had 17 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Zach LaVine (20.2 PPG) missed his ninth straight game with an ankle injury, and he’s still without a timetable to return.
Rookie Maxime Raynaud (10.5 PPG, 6.3 RPG) exited the Suns game with a knee injury and needed assistance getting back to the locker room. If Raynaud joins Domantas Sabonis (17.2 PPG, 12.3 RPG) on the sidelines, the Kings’ frontcourt will be quite shorthanded.
Bucks vs. Kings Pick
Spread Pick for Bucks vs. Kings
- Milwaukee Bucks (4 units)
I don’t want to have anything to do with this Sacramento team. The Bucks don’t breed confidence, but the Kings have been terrible this season. Sacramento is 0-4 SU and ATS in its last four outings, and three of those four defeats have come by 24 or more points.
The Kings score just 109.0 points per 100 possessions (29th in the NBA) and allow 120.6 points in return (27th). They rank 29th in opposing 2-point percentage, so Giannis Antetokounmpo should have a field day.
Sacramento somehow managed to beat Milwaukee in their first meeting this season. The Kings went 35-for-40 from the foul line, and Zach LaVine led the way with 31 points. Domantas Sabonis had 24 points and 13 rebounds, while on the other side, Antetokounmpo posted 26 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. The Bucks made 59.7% of their field goals (15-for-32 from deep), but missed 11 of their 31 shots from the foul line.
Over/Under Pick for Bucks vs. Kings
- Over (4 units)
Without Domantas Sabonis, the Kings will struggle to contain Giannis Antetokounmpo in the paint. Sacramento’s defense will continue to struggle, and the Bucks should be scoring at will. Milwaukee will feed Giannis in the paint, wait for double teams, and look for open shots.
The Bucks are ninth in the league in 3-point rate (.437) and third in 3-point percentage (39.8%). Their defense leaves a lot to be desired, so I expect another high-scoring affair between Milwaukee and Sacramento. The over has hit in 24 of their previous 26 encounters.
