Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Lakers Picks and Prediction, Friday, October 24, 2025
Use Code WWWC The Los Angeles Lakers (0-1) and Minnesota Timberwolves (1-0) meet tonight in a playoff rematch.
The Timberwolves, who bounced the Lakers in five games in the first round last season, opened the year with a 118–114 win over Portland. The Lakers, meanwhile, dropped their opener 119–109 to Golden State despite Luka Doncic putting on a show with 43 points.
Minnesota opened up a winner
Minnesota enters this season with strong championship hopes, holding +1800 odds on ESPNBet, ranking as the 8th most likely NBA team to win it all. Their season opened with a hard-fought 118-114 victory over Portland, highlighted by Anthony Edwards scoring 41 points and grabbing seven rebounds. He went 14 of 28 from the floor and had five three-pointers.
Despite the win, the Timberwolves displayed some early-season rust, committing 19 turnovers, though Edwards took over in crucial moments to secure the win. One of Minnesota’s biggest advantages this season is chemistry, as they retained seven of their top eight rotation players, including key contributors Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels, and Rudy Gobert.

Their shooting impressed, going 15-for-30 from three-point range in the opener. While there are still growing pains to work through, Minnesota’s solid core and cohesion give them a strong foundation to build on this year.
No key injuries.
Lakers waste Luka's 43 points
The Lakers have the 5th-best championship odds on ESPN Bet at +1500. Opening night didn’t go as planned for the Lakers, but there were flashes of what this team could become once LeBron James returns. Luka Doncic was sensational, dropping 43 points with 12 rebounds and nine assists in a losing effort to the Warriors. He looked completely in control and in better shape, but he could not lead the team to victory.
Alongside Doncic, Austin Reaves was solid with 26 points and nine assists, and DeAndre Ayton showed some life with 10 points and six rebounds, but the rest of the supporting cast was quiet, as the Lakers shot just 25 percent from deep.
LeBron James (back) is out for several weeks. F Maxi Kleber (oblique) is also out.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Lakers Predictions
Spread Pick for Timberwolves vs. Lakers
- Minnesota -2.5 (5 units)
Minnesota’s got the chemistry, confidence, and depth edge here. The Wolves have also covered in six of the last eight against L.A., and their physicality is a real problem for a Lakers team missing LeBron. Without Bron's playmaking and leadership, the Lakers lean heavily on Doncic to create every shot, and that’s a tough ask against a defense like Minnesota's. Minnesota shot the ball much better from three in their opener, and I expect them to control the pace and pull away in the fourth quarter for another solid win and cover.
Total Pick vs. T-Wolves vs. Lakers
- Under 225.5 (5 units)
This one sets up as more grind than track meet. The under has hit in seven of the last nine head-to-head meetings, and both teams are still fine-tuning their offense. Minnesota’s defense is built to slow games down, and the Lakers’ lack of spacing without LeBron.
Expect a lot of half-court sets, and long possessions.
I love the under.
