NBA Best Bet #2 - Boston Grabs 1st Win Of The Year
Boston heads into New Orleans tonight as a small -1.5 favorite, and this looks like a good spot to back the Celtics despite their winless start. Boston has dropped its first three games, but Jaylen Brown is coming off a 41-point effort against Detroit, and the Celtics’ defense has quietly held opponents to just 42% shooting from the field through those losses. Even without Jayson Tatum, Boston’s perimeter defense and ability to force turnovers (17 per game) give them an edge against a Pelicans team that has been sloppy with the ball and is still searching for its first win as well. New Orleans has opened 0-2, falling to Memphis and San Antonio, and while Zion Williamson and Trey Murphy have been productive, the Pelicans’ defense has been leaky—allowing 124 points per game so far. They’re also dealing with injuries to Dejounte Murray (Achilles) and Kevon Looney (knee), which thins out their rotation. Boston has historically matched up well with New Orleans, winning both meetings last season, and with the Celtics desperate to avoid an 0-4 start, their defensive intensity and Brown’s scoring punch should be enough to cover the short number.

Portland comes into Crypto.com Arena off a statement win over Golden State, where they dropped 139 points and forced 25 turnovers.
