The 2025-26 NBA season continues Saturday, November 8, with the New Orleans Pelicans taking on the San Antonio Spurs in the Southwest Division showdown at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, TX, and we’ve got you covered with our Pelicans vs. Spurs prediction.
New Orleans meets San Antonio for the second time this season. Back in the opening week, the Spurs outlasted the Pelicans 120-116 in overtime, but New Orleans covered a 4.5-point spread on the home court.
Let’s take a closer look at this Pelicans vs. Spurs prediction, one of our NBA picks for Saturday’s card. The tip-off at Frost Bank Center is set at 8:00 PM ET. Friday’s games have been excluded from the analysis, and the Spurs hosted the Houston Rockets on Friday night.
Pelicans vs. Spurs Matchup
The Pelicans aim for their third straight W
The New Orleans Pelicans started their 2025-26 campaign with a six-game losing streak. During that stretch, the Pelicans have suffered three heavy defeats by 30-plus points, while the other three have been pretty narrow.

After snapping their skid with a 116-112 home victory over the Charlotte Hornets this past Tuesday, the Pelicans outlasted the Dallas Mavericks 101-99 on the road on the second night of a back-to-back. The Pels outrebounded the Mavs 56-44 while holding them to 41.6% shooting from the field.
In the absence of Zion Williamson (hamstring) and Jordan Poole (quad), Saddiq Bey stepped up and posted 22 points and nine rebounds against Dallas. Trey Murphy III led the way against Charlotte, notching 21 points, while the Pelicans’ second unit scored a staggering 62 points in the Hornets game.
The Spurs hope to get back on track
The San Antonio Spurs started the season with a five-game winning streak. After that, the Spurs strung together a couple of road defeats against the Phoenix Suns, 130-11,8 and the Los Angeles Lakers, 118-116. San Antonio was looking to snap a two-game skid on Friday, when the Spurs hosted the Houston Rockets.
The Spurs’ defense fell apart in Phoenix, and the Suns went 19-for-33 from downtown while handing out 34 assists. San Antonio played much better defense against the Lakers, but it wasn’t enough. The Spurs blew a 12-point lead in LA while posting an underwhelming 22/19 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Seven Spurs scored in double figures against the Lakers, and Victor Wembanyama led the way with 19 points and eight rebounds. San Antonio misses rookie guard Dylan Harper (14.0 PPG, 3.8 APG), while Jeremy Sochan (16.0 PPG) and De’Aaron Fox are both listed as questionable. Fox is recovering from a hamstring injury and has yet to make his season debut.
Pelicans vs. Spurs Pick
Spread Pick for Pelicans vs. Spurs
- San Antonio Spurs (4 units)
The Pelicans played good defense last Wednesday, but keep in mind that the injury-depleted Dallas Mavericks have the worst offensive rating in the NBA this season. New Orleans’ defense has been awful in general, allowing 121.9 points per 100 possessions (29th in the NBA).
On the other side, the Spurs boast the second-best defensive rating in the league, yielding 109.6 points per 100 possessions. They will host the Pelicans on the second night of a back-to-back, but I have to go with San Antonio.
Without Zion Williamson, the Pelicans will struggle to contain the Spurs in the paint. San Antonio outrebounded New Orleans 59-45 in that overtime victory two weeks ago.
Over/Under Pick for Pelicans vs. Spurs
- Under (4 units)
In their first meeting of the season, New Orleans and San Antonio combined for just 214 points in regulation. The Pelicans shot 43.3% from the field, and the Spurs made 45.9% of their field goals while going 17-for-26 from the foul line.
When it comes to pace, both teams rank in the bottom six in the league. Neither side leans on 3-pointers a lot, so I’m going with the under. Also, both teams miss some very important players, which will affect their offensive performance.
Three of the last four encounters between New Orleans and San Antonio have gone under.
