The NBA betting action goes on Sunday, January 25, 2026, with the seven-game card, including a Southwest Division showdown at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, TX, so here’s our Pelicans vs. Spurs prediction.
New Orleans and San Antonio wrap up their four-game regular-season series, and the Spurs look to sweep the Pelicans for the first time since 2019-20. However, the Pelicans have covered the spread in each of their previous three encounters with the Spurs.
Can the Spurs finally beat the number? Read more about this Pelicans vs. Spurs prediction, and check out all our NBA picks for Sunday’s slate. The tip-off at Frost Bank Center is set at 7:00 PM ET.
The Pelicans just snapped their three-game skid
The New Orleans Pelicans (11-36; 24-22-1 ATS; 25-22 O/U) are coming off Friday’s 133-127 road victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. After three consecutive defeats against the Indiana Pacers 127-119, the Houston Rockets 119-110, and the Detroit Pistons 112-104, the Pelicans overcame a 13-point second-half deficit in Memphis.

The Pels forced the Grizzlies into 19 turnovers. New Orleans outscored Memphis 40-26 in the fourth quarter, finishing the game with a 29/10 assist-to-turnover ratio. The Pelicans went 13-for-36 from beyond the arc and 28-for-33 from the foul line. Saddiq Bey notched 19 of his season-high 36 points in the fourth quarter.
New Orleans is still without Dejounte Murray (Achilles), who could make his season debut in February. Trey Murphy III leads the way with 22.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, while Zion Williamson averages 22.0 points and 5.9 boards. The Pelicans score 113.5 points per 100 possessions (23rd in the NBA) and allow 120.5 points in return (28th).
The Spurs are back on track
The San Antonio Spurs (31-14; 24-22 ATS; 17-28 O/U) put an end to their three-game winning streak last Tuesday. After beating the Milwaukee Bucks 119-101, the Minnesota Timberwolves 126-123, and the Utah Jazz 123-110, the Spurs suffered a 111-106 defeat at the Houston Rockets. They bounced back last Thursday, beating the Jazz 126-109 as 12.5-point road favorites.
De’Aaron Fox tortured Utah for 31 points and five assists. Victor Wembanyama double-doubled with 26 points and 14 rebounds, while Stephon Castle had 16 points and eight assists. The Spurs held the Jazz to 17 points in the fourth quarter. San Antonio shot 50.6% from the field (18-for-43 from deep) while scoring a staggering 32 fast-break points.
Wembanyama leads the charge for the Spurs with 24.5 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. Fox tallies 20.5 points and 5.9 assists per game, and Castle adds 16.9 points and 7.1 dimes a night. The Spurs score 117.6 points per 100 possessions (8th in the NBA) while surrendering 112.3 points in return (3rd).
Pelicans vs. Spurs Pick
Spread Pick for Pelicans vs. Spurs
- San Antonio Spurs (4 units)
Devin Vassell (15.0 PPG) is expected to return from his 13-game absence caused by an adductor injury, so the Spurs will have another weapon in their strong arsenal. Hereof, I expect them to finally cover the spread in this series.
The Spurs lean on their defense, but San Antonio can score, too, and the Pelicans are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA. New Orleans is 29th in the league in opposing 2-point percentage (58.8%) and defensive rebound percentage (71.6%).
San Antonio leads the NBA in defensive rebound percentage (77.4%) and ranks sixth in 2-point percentage (56.2%). Victor Wembanyama will dominate the Pels in the paint. The last time they met, the Spurs outlasted the Pelicans 135-132 in New Orleans on December 8, but Wembanyama didn’t play.
Over/Under Pick for Pelicans vs. Spurs
- Over (4 units)
Both teams are in the middle of the pack when it comes to pace. The Pelicans register 100.5 possessions per 48 minutes, and the Spurs record 100.0 possessions per 48 minutes.
The Pels often neglected defensive duties, so the Spurs won’t hesitate to push the ball in transition whenever they can. Each of their previous three meetings in 2025-26 went over the total, and I would ride this betting trend.
No team makes fewer 3-pointers per 100 possessions than New Orleans (10.6). However, the Pelicans will have to rely on triples in this game because of the Spurs’ stout interior defense. San Antonio’s 3-point defense is not elite.
