The New York Knicks (8-4) and the Miami Heat (7-6) tip off again after just meeting on Friday night for another rivalry game in this Knicks vs. Heat prediction. Each team had the day off to travel on Saturday, as the Knicks just beat the Heat 140-132 in an absolute shootout that saw the Knicks cover the 6.5-point spread as favorites. This is their third matchup of the season, as Miami won back at home in October. Tip is set for 7:30 EST. New York Looks for First Road Win

The New York Knicks are one of the favorites in the East, but have to figure out how to win outside of New York this season. The Garden has been busy, as they have been home for nine of their twelve games this season, losing all three games on the road. They want to repeat Friday night's performance, as the Knicks put up 140 without Jalen Brunson as Karl-Anthony Towns and Landry Shamet stepped up to lead the way.

Towns for the scoring started, as he was red hot in the first half, putting up 31 points in the first two quarters. He finished the game with 39 points and 11 rebounds while hitting six three-pointers on the way. On the season, Towns is averaging 21.8 PPG and 12.5 RPG as one of the better outside shooting bigs in the league. Landry Shamet was the story of the night on Friday, the veteran guard put up a career high 36 points and had the Garden fans chanting his name late in the game. Shamet is getting just 10.0 PPG, but showed his scoring potential when he is asked to step up. It is unclear if either Jalen Brunson or OG Anunoby will play in this game, as they are both battling injuries.

Mikal Bridges will be available. The reliable wing is getting 15.6 PPG this season. Jordan Clarkson will be asked to step up with their two star players out of the lineup. New York is 2nd in the league in offensive efficiency and 15th in the league in defensive efficiency according to dunksandthrees.com. The Knicks rank 25th in the league in tempo, playing at a slow half-court pace.

Injury Report for Knicks:

  • Out: Jalen Brunson (foot), OG Anunoby (hamstring)

Heat Continue Without Star

The Miami Heat have been trying to build a balanced team, but it still hurts that their top perimeter player has not yet played this season. Tyler Herro has been out with an ankle injury, and could be out for another two months. Bam Adebayo recently missed some games, and Terry Rozier has been out due to the gambling investigation circling the league. In the recent loss against the Knicks, the Heat got 38 points from Norman Powell in the loss.

Powell has been one of the most underrated players in the NBA over the past few seasons. Many thought he should have made the All-Star team last season with the Clippers, but he is now getting 26.1 PPG for Miami in his first season with the Heat. Bam Adebayo is battling a toe injury and will be listed as a game-time decision for this matchup. This would leave Andrew Wiggins as their next best scorer; the former number one overall pick is contributing 17.5 PPG and 4.9 RPG this season. Jaime Jaquez Jr. has been coming off the bench and getting 17.5 PPG and 7.3 RPG.

Kel'el Ware is an athletic big man who gets another 10.8 PPG and 9.2 RPG, with Simone Fontecchio scoring 11.3 PPG off the bench. Miami is ranked 20th in offensive efficiency and 12th in defensive efficiency. The Heat have been playing at the fastest pace in the league based upon possessions per game.

Injury Report for Miam Heat

  • Out: Tyler Herro, Terry Rozier
  • Questionable: Bam Adebayo

Knicks vs. Heat Picks and Predictions

Spread pick for Knicks vs. Heat

  • Heat to cover (4 units)

These teams have already met twice this season, with each team winning on their home floor. This is a reason to support the Heat, but on top of this, the Knicks are facing injuries to their already short rotation. Brunson missed the last game with a foot injury, and Anunoby had to leave the game on Friday with a hamstring issue. The Knicks cannot survive while relying on career highs from Landry Shamet and Jordan Clarkson, and Mikal Bridges has not turned into the star that New York thought they were getting this season. Powell put up big numbers with his 38 last time out, and Wiggins and Jaquez are strong wings who can impact the game.

Take the Heat to cover.

Over/Under Pick for Knicks vs. Heat

  • Under (4 units)

These teams are both dealing with injuries, which will slow down the pace of the game and lower the scoring output. Miami has been without Herro all season, but are recently dealing with the Adebayo injury which will impact their ability to score in the halfcourt. New York just put up 140 in the last game, but keep in mind that was an NBA Cup game, where total points and point differential matters. Those factors will not come into play here, as New York will be willing to slow the game down with their 25th ranked tempo. Expect a low scoring game here.

Take the under.
