Key Matchups for NY Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets
Knicks struggling on the road
New York comes into this game at 1-5 on the road after falling in two of three games to Orlando and Miami, while beating Dallas in the middle of those losses. They are 8-1 at home and just played seven straight at MSG. Not only did the Knicks lose to the Magic on Friday, but they lost guard Landry Shamet early in the first quarter to a shoulder injury after receiving a tough screen from Wendell Carter. Jalen Brunson scored 33 points and dished out 11 assists in the loss, but Shamet had been a key contributor with 36 points in a road win over Miami on Nov. 14 and was averaging 9.3 points and shooting 42.4% from beyond the arc.
Brunson, who has missed two games due to injuries, is back and leading the team with 28.4 points per game. They are missing OG Anunoby (hamstring), who was third on the team in scoring at 15.8 points and was one of the team's best defenders. But he'll be out at least two weeks and will be re-evaluated after that point.
DunksandThrees.com has the Knicks ranked 5th in Adjusted Net Rankings and 3rd in Adjusted Offensive Rating.
Nets have two wins in four games
Baby steps when you open the season with seven straight losses and lose 11 of your first 12 games. Since then, they've won two of four, including a win over Washington by 23 on Nov. 16 and over the Celtics on Friday by eight. But on Sunday, reality struck as Brooklyn fell at Toronto 119-109. Michael Porter Jr. led the way with 25 points for the starters, though it was Tyrese Martin, who had a season-high 26 points off the bench.
The Nets are not going to win many shootouts, especially without Cam Thomas (hamstring), who hasn't played since Nov. 5. He's the second leading scorer at 21.4 points behind MPJ, who is averaging 24.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists on 48.6% shooting and 37.5% from beyond the arc.
The Nets are shooting are 29th in Net Ratings on DunksandThrees, 27th in Adjusted Offense and 29th in Adjusted Defense.

Knicks vs. Nets Final Score Prediction
- New York 115-Brooklyn 109
The Knicks certainly have the advantage in terms of rest, but the loss of Anonoby is a blow to their defense and Shamet gives them solid minutes as a starter or off the bench. The Nets are playing better basketball as they've not only won two straight SU, but four of their last five against the spread. The Knicks are 0-6 ATS in their last six road games. They are shooting just 31.5% from three-point range on the road. In terms of pace for the total, the Knicks started out fast, but they are now 18th in pace of play, while the Nets are 28th in the league. Take the under.
