OKC Thunder vs. Milwaukee Bucks Picks, Prediction, Odds and Line Movement for January 21, 2026
Use Code WWWC A beast from the West will take on a struggling former top team from the East in this Thunder vs. Bucks prediction on Wednesday night. OKC (36-8) leads the West by 5.5 games and has dominated despite suffering key injuries. Milwaukee (18-24) has been one of the league's most disappointing teams as it ranks 11th in the subpar Eastern Conference. Oklahoma City is a 9.5-point favorite on the road, while the total is 225.5. This is the first meeting of the season for these teams. Last season, the Thunder won both games by double-digits and covered both. Who is going to beat the Thunder aside from the Spurs?
OKC has had some strange losses this season, falling at Miami on Jan. 17, at home against Charlotte, at Phoenix and they've lost to the Spurs three times, including once in the NBA Cup. But nobody is perfect and they've lost two in a row just twice this season. After the Miami loss, the Thunder played Cleveland on the road on Monday and crushed them 136-104, while outscoring them 45-25 in the fourth quarter.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 30 points on 12-of-20 shooting, while center Chet Holmgren chipped in with 28 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. OKC was playing without defensive-minded guard Alex Caruson (groin), center Isaiah Hartenstein (calf), forward Jaylin Williams (glute), and star guard Jalen Williams (hamstring). Caruso is questionable for this game, but Jalen Williams is out for at least two weeks, and Hartenstein is also out.
It's amazing what this team has done without Hartenstein (11.2ppg, 10.4rpg), who has missed 20 games, while Caruso has missed 12 games and Jalen Williams has missed 20 games as well, including the first month of the season. The depth on this squad is just incredible as is the scouting. AJay Mitchell has come out of nowhere to average 14 points per game on 48.2% shooting. But the only player they can't afford to lose is SGA (31.8 ppg, 6.2 apg, 39.3% 3pt).

What is wrong with the Bucks?
In early 2024, Milwaukee decided to fire Adrian Griffin after justΒ 43 games (he was 30-13). They hired Doc Rivers and he's gone 65-53 since then. This season has been an absolute disaster as the Bucks are 18-24, and it's not the time to tank with Giannis Antetokounmpo. At some point, they are going to trade him to a contender, but that will mean it's rebuilding time.
The Bucks have lost three of their last four games, though they did win their last game over Atlanta, 112-110 on the road as a 1.5-point dog. Antetokounmpo is averaging 28.5 points per game and 9.8 rebounds with 5.5 assists, though his numbers are slightly down from previous seasons. The bigger issue is that he's not getting enough help. The "Greek Freak" needs to be surrounded by shooters because he's a 6-11 slasher and finisher at the rim (64.5% FG). Center Myles Turner(12.2 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 42.1%, 39% 3pt) has been a bit disappointing as a 7-foot stretch five. Guard play has also not been up to snuff with Kevin Porter Jr. adding 16.8 points per game and 7.4 assists, but is shooting just 44.3% from the field (35.8% 3pt).
Milwaukee is dealing with injuries to Turner (ankle) and Porter Jr. (oblique), who are questionable. According to DunksandThrees.com, the Bucks are 23rd overall, 22nd in Adjusted Offense and 20th in Adjusted Defense.

Thunder vs. Bucks Prediction and Picks
- OKC -9.5 (4 units)
What the Thunder are doing right now with so many players out is remarkable. They have players like Cason Wallace (7.3 ppg), Lu Dort (8.5 ppg), Isaiah Joe (9.7 ppg) and Aaron Wiggins (10.4 ppg), who can play key minutes for most teams and when OKC needs them to start or play more minutes, they usually produce. The Bucks are a mess right now and it starts on the defensive end, where they struggle against the three-point shot (22nd). They also don't have that kind of depth, so if Turner and Porter Jr. don't play, this could be another 30-point win for the Thunder. With them, it will only be around 20 points.
Over/Under Pick for OKC Thunder vs. Bucks
- Under 234.5 (4 units)
This is not a game about pace because the Thunder can outrun the Bucks with their youth. But Milwaukee does have a decent defense, ranking 12th in field goal percentage defense. OKC ranks first in points per game allowed (108 ppg) and in field goal defense (43%). Their defense also travels as they allow just 108.6 points per game away from home. Milwaukee has gone under in two straight and four of their last five.
