In this Magic at Pistons prediction, the two young Eastern Conference playoff-hopefuls will square off in the Motor City on Wednesday night. The Magic, fresh off an injury-riddled season that still included a playoff trip, have started slowly with just one win in their first four games. The Pistons are now at .500 following a one-sided loss to the Cavs on Monday night. Read on for more in this Magic/Pistons prediction and get our top NBA predictions to increase your bankroll!

Slow Start for Magic

So far, so good on the health front for the Orlando Magic this season. They have, however, struggled to pick up wins. The Magic fell to 1-3 on the season following Monday night’s 136-124 loss to the Sixers in Philadelphia. This was the start of a five-game road trip for the Magic. Paolo Banchero finished with 32 points to lead the Magic attack. Desmond Bane scored 24 points and Franz Wagner added 22 points. The Magic have now lost three straight games since winning their opener against Miami.

The Magic came into this season hoping for better health and more scoring punch, particularly from beyond the arc. They added Bane to help with their scoring and their outside shooting. Thus far, things haven’t gone according to plan. The Magic are 29th in the NBA in scoring, and the team is last in the league in three-point shooting percentage. The Magic were one of the best defensive teams in the NBA last season. This season, the Magic are giving up 114 points per game and allowing the opposition to shoot 47 percent from the floor.

Key Injuries: F Moritz Wagner is a game-time decision.

Pistons Look to Rebound from Rough Loss

The Detroit Pistons have high hopes for the 2025-26 season after returning to the playoffs last season after a long absence. The team hopes to have a healthy season from Jaden Ivy, after the dynamic guard missed much of the 2024-25 season. He’ll return to action at the end of November, giving the Pistons one of the best backcourts in the Eastern Conference along with All-Star Cade Cunningham. The Pistons are now 2-2 on the season after being dismantled by the Cavs on Monday night, 116-95, in Detroit. Cade Cunningham scored just 12 points, shooting a dismal 3-of-14 from the field. Ron Holland II and Tolu Smith each added 11 points. The Pistons turned the ball over a whopping 25 times in defeat.

The Pistons are below the middle of the pack in points per game, ranked 21st in the league thus far. They are shooting just 44 percent from the floor and 33 percent from 3-point range. The return of Ivey next month should help the Pistons’ offense with another legit scoring option. The Pistons are allowing the opposition to score 113 points per game thus far. Teams are shooting 42 percent from the field against the Pistons’ defense and 37 percent from long range. Turnovers are a bit of concern, with the team ranked just 24th in the league in turnovers after coughing up 25 on Monday night.

Key Injuries:  G Marcus Sasser and G Caris LeVert are game-time decisions. G Jaden Ivey is out.

Magic at Pistons Pick

Point Spread Pick for Magic vs. Pistons

  • Pistons minus the points. (4 units)

The Magic have not jumped out of the gates as they did last season, losing three straight now to drop to 1-3. The team continues to struggle from the perimeter, once again last in the NBA in 3-point shooting. The addition of Bane has not translated into better perimeter shooting. The team has also dropped defensively, allowing teams to shoot nearly 48 percent from the floor. The Pistons are coming off a disappointing performance against the Cavs at home, trailing by as much as 45 points in the game. They shot poorly and never got untracked. In this game, the Pistons will benefit from home cooking and a chance to rebound against what has been a below-average Magic defense. They shoot the ball better from the perimeter, hold the opposition to just 42 percent shooting, and can rebound stride for stride with Orlando. Look for the Pistons to rebound at home on Wednesday.

Take Detroit minus the points.

Over/Under Pick for Magic vs. Pistons

  • Over (4 units)

The Magic and Pistons are both allowing just under 115 points per game this season. Orlando is really pushing the pace this season, ranking 7th in the league in pace of play. The Magic are letting teams shoot close to 50 percent thus far. The Pistons have been sloppy with the basketball, which could lead to easy baskets for the Magic. The Pistons are also coming off one of their poorer offensive performances of the season. Don’t expect a repeat of Monday night’s performance against the Cavs. Both teams will put up numbers and sail past the total.

Take the over.
