The NBA season is slowly coming to a close, and the Orlando Magic are fighting to get their best possible seed heading into the postseason. In the current standings, Orlando finds themselves in the 9th spot, but are only two games behind the 76ers all the way up at 6th. It is possible for the Magic to climb to that 6th spot, but in all likelihood they will end up in the Play-In Tournament.
Orlando is coming off an ugly loss against the Hawks, where none of their starters scored more than 14 points. Both Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner played in the game, but they will need a stronger performance from their two stars to pick up a win in Dallas. The Magic will only be without Jonathan Isaac and Anthony Black, so they should have enough depth to perform well in this one. Banchero has been their leader this season while getting 22.4 PPG and 8.3 RPG to lead the team in both categories.
Franz Wagner has also been solid with 21.0 PPG, and Desmond Bane has been a consistent outside shooter contributing another 20.3 PPG. Mavericks Drop Seven of Eight
The Dallas Mavericks are already mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, as the ten postseason teams in the Western Conference are already set. This means the bottom five teams in the conference do not have much left to play for, and the race to tank is likely to commence. The upcoming draft brings one of the deepest classes the league has seen in years, so the Mavericks will hope to land a high pick to pair someone with Cooper Flagg while moving forward.
Flagg has been solid this season, and is their leading scorer with 20.3 PPG. He is in a race with former Duke teammate Kon Knueppel for the Rookie of the Year Award, and is the main building block moving forward as a 19-year old forward.
