The Trail Blazers head to Phoenix on Wednesday to face the Suns at Mortgage Matchup Center. Tipoff is set for 9:00 pm ET. Portland (5-1, 3rd Western Conference) picked up a 118-110 win over Denver on Monday and has yet to lose away from home (4-0). Phoenix (1-4, 12th Western Conference) is coming off a narrow 116-113 loss to Golden State, its third defeat in a row. Portland also won the first meeting between these teams 124-83 on October 21. Portland Trail Blazers Off to a Strong Start
A trip to Denver on Monday brought Portland another road victory, this time by eight points. The Blazers had beaten Utah 112-90 on Saturday after a 124-103 home loss to Memphis. Portland also won at the Lakers 136-129 and Sacramento 128-120 in late October. The Trail Blazers have scored at least 112 points in four of those five games, with their 103-point effort against Memphis the exception. Portland averages 120.6 points while allowing 109.3.
Deni Avdija (23.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists) leads Portland in scoring and passing. Damian Lillard has added 19.2 points per game, while Toumani Camara is averaging 15.2 and shooting 51.3% from three-point range. Donovan Clingan has helped Portland inside with 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. The Trail Blazers have shot 47.1% from the floor, although they'll be without Ja Morant, who averaged 15.8 points in four appearances.
Injuries: Ja Morant and Shaedon Sharpe are out.

Phoenix Suns Still Searching for Another Win
The Suns have had close games of late. Phoenix last by three to Golden State Monday and seven to Denver at home. The Suns’ only victory was 131-122 over Golden State. Phoenix put up only 83 against Portland in its season opener. However, since then, the offense has performed better, scoring 113 or more each time out, but the defense has been the downfall, allowing an average of 122.8 per game.
Devin Booker (22.3 points, 5.3 assists) is shooting 50% and leads the Suns in scoring. Dillon Brooks averages 16.5 points, while Miles Bridges adds 16.3 points and a team-best 7.3 rebounds. Collin Gillespie has contributed 5.8 assists and 3.0 steals per game. Phoenix shoots 46.5% from the field, but has struggled on the glass, averaging just 40.3 rebounds.
Injuries: Mark Williams is out. Jordan Goodwin is questionable.
Key To The Game
Phoenix has scored much better since its opening loss to Portland, but stopping the Blazers remains the bigger problem. Portland's advantage on the boards could create extra possessions, especially with Clingan facing a Suns team missing Williams. Phoenix needs Booker to keep the offense moving without letting Avdija and Lillard take control at the other end.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Phoenix Suns Game Pick
- Portland Trail Blazers
Portland has done its best work away from home, winning all four road games. That includes Monday's victory over Denver and a 41-point win against Phoenix to open the season. The Suns have improved offensively since that meeting, but their defense is still giving up too many points. Phoenix has surrendered at least 116 in four straight games, while Portland has several players contributing in double figures. Clingan and Avdija also give the visitors an edge on the boards. Booker could keep Phoenix close, but I expect Portland to leave with another road victory.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Phoenix Suns Over/Under Pick
- Over
The first meeting was one-sided and finished with only 207 points because Phoenix scored just 83. The Suns have looked different since then, reaching at least 113 points in four consecutive games. They've also given up 116 or more in every one of those contests. Portland has scored 118, 112, 103, 136 and 128 over its last five, so another big night is possible. Booker and Bridges give Phoenix enough scoring to contribute, even if Portland controls the game. With neither defense showing much resistance lately, I'll take the over.
