Spurs vs. Nuggets Pick and Preview
Spread Pick for Spurs vs. Nuggets
- San Antonio +10.5 (4 Units)
It's tough to count out the Spurs. They win or at least keep the score close when they shouldn't, at least on paper. San Antonio is simply one of the best-run pro sports organizations. After winning and covering in four of their previous five, the visitors will cover Friday's spread. They won straight-up as one-point 'dogs on Wednesday, as Fox erupted for 37 and Vassell added a cool 23 on 9-for-17 shooting. With or without Wemby, these guys are going to play like they're supposed to win.
Denver has also been playing well, but it has struggled to cover three similarly large spreads recently, losing as 12.5-point, 10.5-point, and 11-point favorites in three of its previous five games. Back San Antonio on Friday ATS!
Over/Under Pick for Spurs vs. Nuggets
- Under 236.5 (5 Units)
The Spurs and Nuggets are slow-tempo squads, ranking 23rd and 25th in pace this season. While both teams also rank in the top ten in offensive efficiency rating, this total is too high. The under has cashed in five of the Spurs' last six games, as they've held five of those opponents to 111 or fewer points. They certainly miss Wemby's rim defense, but his absence hasn't allowed teams to pile on the points by attacking them in the paint. I'm also confident that the Nuggets will bring their A-game defensively, holding the visitors in check from three-point range. While they're less stout inside the arc (17th in 2PT defense), San Antonio shot just 44.1 percent from two-point range last game and is down a few percentage points since Wemby's injury.
