Warriors leaning heavily on Curry but lacking consistency

Golden State enters this matchup at 36-38 on the season, and their inconsistency has been a defining theme throughout the year.

The offense continues to revolve around Stephen Curry, who is averaging 27 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds per game this season. Curry remains one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league, capable of taking over games with perimeter shooting.

However, the issue for Golden State has been reliability beyond him, and he will be out for this game.

Brandin Podziemski is contributing around 13 points per game, but his efficiency has fluctuated. Meanwhile, Draymond Green continues to anchor the defense and facilitate offense, averaging 5+ assists per game, but he’s not a scoring threat.

In recent games, the Warriors have struggled defensively, particularly against teams with strong interior presence. That becomes a major concern against Denver.

Additionally, Golden State has had issues closing games on the road, where their performance has been noticeably weaker compared to home. Golden State has had horrific luck with injuries and it has completely derailed any Finals chance they had.

Strengths

Experience in high-pressure games, ball movement, and perimeter shooting

Weaknesses

Inconsistent secondary scoring, below-average road performance, struggles defending inside

Nuggets built around Jokic and elite efficiency

Denver enters this game at 47-28, continuing to be one of the most consistent teams in the Western Conference.

Everything revolves around Nikola Jokić, who is putting together another MVP-caliber season, averaging 28 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists per game. His ability to control tempo and create offense makes Denver extremely difficult to defend.

The supporting cast has been strong as well:

  • Jamal Murray: 25 PPG, reliable secondary scorer
  • Peyton Watson .: 15 PPG, floor spacing and rebounding

Denver’s offensive efficiency has been one of the best in the league, largely due to their ability to generate high-quality shots through ball movement and Jokic’s playmaking.

Defensively, the Nuggets are not elite, but they are solid enough, especially at home, to limit inconsistent teams like Golden State.

At Ball Arena, Denver has been particularly strong, using both altitude and offensive rhythm to wear teams down over four quarters. Denver continues to be a solid lineup behind the star power of Nikola Jokic. This team has not changed its core over the past few seasons. We have seen they are capable of winning it all, but often they fall flat against the best teams in the league.

Strengths

MVP-level production from Jokic, efficient half-court offense, strong home-court performance, balanced scoring options

Weaknesses

Defense can be average at times, can struggle if pace increases significantly, relies heavily on Jokic’s playmaking

Warriors vs. Nuggets Picks

  • Nuggets -11.5 (5 units)

Denver holds the edge in both consistency and matchup advantages.

The biggest factor is inside presence, Golden State has struggled against dominant big men, and Jokic is one of the most difficult players in the league to contain. Over a full game, Denver’s efficiency and depth should allow them to control the pace.

With the Nuggets also holding a strong home-court advantage, this sets up well for them to cover. The only issue is the size of the number, but Golden State has shown in their recent road form they will not be able to keep pace for four quarters.

Total Pick for Warriors vs. Nuggets

  • Under 238.5 (5 units)

Both teams have clear offensive strengths, but without CUrry, this should stay under the current total.

If the pace picks up at all, this total has strong upside, especially with the Warriors’ defensive inconsistencies, but we think it stays slow enought o come under the number.

Projected Final Score

Nuggets 120 Warriors 108
