Washington Rebuilds Again
The Washington Wizards just traded assets away for Anthony Davis, and while the haul they shipped away wasn't massive, it is still unclear if Davis will suit up for Washington at all this season. Regardless of their future, it is clear that both Anthony Davis and Trae Young will not play in this game, leaving Washington with a group of young prospects to try to compete in the East. In their last game, Washington was led by Tristan Vukcevic with 14 points in their loss to Miami.
Vukcevic is a 22-year old 7-footer who may not be the future face of the franchise, but the team is hoping he can develop into a consistent role player who can contribute to winning. He is getting 7.5 PPG after being a second round pick in 2023. Five other players on the team scored either 12 or 13 points last time out, as they try to use their balanced scoring approach without their stars available. One of those players was Alex Sarr, the former number two overall pick who is getting 17.2 PPG and 7.8 RPG as a 20-year old 7-footer.
Kyshawn George controls the ball in the halfcourt, he is adding another 15.1 PPG and 4.9 APG, while Tre Johnson gets another 12.9 PPG as a rookie guard. Washington is ranked 30th in offensive efficiency and 27th in defensive efficiency according to dunksandthrees.com. The Wizards play at the 10th fastest pace in the NBA based on possessions per game.

Cavaliers Head Home
The Cleveland Cavaliers will be excited to return back to their home floor, as they have played their last five games on the road against Western Conference teams. This is not meant to imply the trip went poorly, as they won four of the five games on the trip with their only loss coming in the first matchup against Phoenix. In their last game against Denver, Cleveland was led by Donovan Mitchell with 32 points in the victory.
The biggest news on the road trip was that James Harden started playing his first games with his new team after the trade deadline deal. Harden had 23 points against the Kings in his Cavalier debut, then followed it up with 22 points and ten assists in their recent win over Denver. Harden will be paired with Mitchell in the backcourt, as Mitchell is one of the top scoring guards in the league with 29.0 PPG with 5.9 APG. Evan Mobley will be their best interior player, but he is still out of the lineup as he continues to battle his calf injury.
Jarrett Allen is available on the inside, the big man is getting 14.5 PPG and 8.3 RPG, while Jaylon Tyson has emerged as a scoring wing getting 14.0 PPG as a 23-year old guard. Cleveland is ranked 3rd in offensive efficiency and 13th in defensive efficiency. The Cavaliers play just slightly faster than the Wizards, ranking 8th in the league in pace of play.
Injury Report for Wizards vs. Cavaliers:

Wizards vs. Cavaliers Picks and Predictions
Spread pick for Wizards vs. Cavaliers
- Cavaliers to cover (5 units)
It does not take elite players a long time to figure out how to play together, and it seems James Harden has quickly meshed with Donovan Mitchell and the rest of the Cavaliers. Harden scored at least 22 points in each of his first two games with Cleveland, and Mitchell led the team in scoring in each of those two games. This does not guarantee playoff success, but it will guarantee victory against this lowly Wizards team that is running out of players. Washington is without Anthony Davis or Trae Young, who actually never played a game with Washington despite being on their roster. This is not a game where Sarr and George can keep it close, Cleveland will roll. Take the Cavaliers to win.
Over/Under Pick for Wizards vs. Cavaliers
- Over (4 units)
These two teams are both in the top ten in the NBA in possessions per game, and will push the tempo here in a high scoring shootout. Cleveland will not be stopped in this game, it is difficult to gameplan against them when they only have two games of film with Harden and Mitchell playing together. Cleveland is 3rd in offensive efficiency, but only 13th in defensive efficiency, which signifies that this could be a high scoring game. The Wizards are only 27th in defensive efficiency, so they will not put up a big fight on that side of the ball. Neither team is on the tail end of a back to back, so we will see plenty of points on the board in this one.
Take the over.
