Wiz trade for Young, continue their downfall
Washington comes into this game having lost three straight and four of five. Last week, they traded veteran guards C.J. McCollum and Corey Kisper for All-Star guard Trae Young from Atlanta. Young (quad/knee) has been out with various injuries and there's no timetable for his return.
The Wizards fell in their last game at Phoenix 112-93 as a 15-point underdog. Center Alex Saar and rookie guard Tre Johnson led the team with 19 points apiece, while Saar also added 15 rebounds and three blocks. But Washington's bench is now thin without Kispert and with McCollum gone as the starting point guard. Bub Carrington (9pts, 7ast) was coming off the bench and is now starting.
Sarr leads the team in scoring with 17.3 points, in rebounds with 7.8, and in blocks with 2.3 per game. The second-year center from France is shooting 50.1% from the field and 34.9% from beyond the arc. Kyshawn George adds 14.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists.

According to DunksandThrees.com, Washington is last in Adjusted Net Rating, 28th in Adjusted Offense and 29th in Adjusted Defense.
Clippers are waking up
It might be too late to contend for a top-four seed, but Los Angeles is creeping up the Western Conference standings after winning three straight, four of five and 10 of the last 12. This is an aging team, but they have been healthy as of late with their corps of Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, Ivica Zubac and John Collins playing 29 or more games. Leonard has played the least amount at 29, but he's back to becoming an All-World player at 28.1 points per game on 50.1% shooting.
Leonard had 35 points in the Clippers' latest win, a 117-109 victory over Charlotte on Monday. Harden added 32 points and 10 assists, but shot just 11 of 28 (3 of 11 3pt). However, speaking of injuries, Leonard might sit this one out due to ankle issues. That would mean more for rookie forward Kobe Sanders (6-8, 207), who averages 6.2 points and shoots 36.4% from beyond the arc.
The Clippers are ranked 17th in Adjusted Net Rating, 10th in Adjusted Offensive Rating and 19th in Adjusted Defense.
Spread Picks for Wizards vs. Clippers
Wizards vs. Clippers Picks, Odds and Prediction
- LA Clippers -11.5 (4 units)
Washington is on the tank train, which means Young will play very few games this season and they will rest key players for the slightest injury. The Clippers can still demolish Washington, especially in the paint, with Collins and Zubac. The Wizards are also awful on defense, especially on the road, where they are allowing opponents to shoot 47% from the field and 36.5% from three-point range. The Clippers are shooting 48.4% from the field at home to rank seventh in the league. If the game comes down to free-throw shooting, the Clippers have the big advantage, shooting 83.9% from the line to rank first in the league.
Over/Under Pick for Wizards vs. Clippers
- Under 223.5 (4 units)
If Leonard doesn't play, this game will go under because he's still one of the best scorers in the league and the Clippers have nobody who can replace his offensive production. Washington wants to push the ball, but they will struggle to rebound against Collins and Zubac. The Wizards have gone under in three of their last four games. and seven of nine. The loss of McColllum, who was averaging 18.6 points per game, is a dagger for an offense that was already struggling for Washington.
