Ravens are Elite in Regular Season

The Baltimore Ravens have been one of the best regular-season teams over the past several seasons, especially with Lamar Jackson rising to fame with his dual-threat ability. Jackson won the league MVP Award in 2019 and then again in 2023, which puts him on the short list of quarterbacks with two MVP Awards. If he can add a Super Bowl to his resume, it will lock up his spot in Canton. The Ravens bring back a lot of familiar faces, as John Harbaugh has been leading the team since 2008.

Jackson is their leader on the field; he finished last season with 4.172 passing yards and an incredible 41 touchdowns against just four interceptions. His threat to run makes him even more dangerous, as he ran for 915 yards and four touchdowns last year. The nice thing for the Ravens is that Derrick Henry made life easier for Jackson, as Jackson is no longer pressured to be their best rusher on the team. Henry seems ageless, as the 31-year-old power back ran for 1,921 yards last season to go with 16 touchdowns.

Jackson has a nice mix of young talent and veteran pass catchers to find. Zay Flowers is a young speedster, paired up with Rashod Bateman who is finally healthy on the perimeter. DeAndre Hopkins and Mark Andrews are two well-known veterans who will be available on the outside. Roquan Smith leads the defense from the middle linebacker spot, with Jaire Alexander and Kyle Hamilton as elite pieces in the secondary.

Bills Have Reigning MVP

Patrick Mahomes may be the most celebrated quarterback in the league, as his Super Bowl rings speak volumes, but this game is a matchup of the two most recent MVPs. Jackson won in 2023, with Josh Allen winning last season for the Buffalo Bills. Both quarterbacks are searching for that elusive Super Bowl ring, but will settle for simply getting a win here to start the season. Doug McDermott is back for another year with Buffalo, but may be on the hot seat as expectations are high when your roster is this strong.

Allen had 3,731 passing yards last season and another 531 yards on the ground. This goes with his 28 passing touchdowns and 12.  rushing touchdowns, with only six interceptions and one fumble all season. James Cook recently renegotiated his deal and will be their lead tailback again. Last season he supplied the run game Buffalo badly needed, finishing with 1,009 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground. There are not a lot of big names in the passing game. Khalil Shakir is back as their top wideout; he finished with 821 yards and four touchdowns last season.

Dalton Kincaid is a reliable outlet as a tight end, with Dawson Knox available to give them two tight end looks. Joey Bosa looks to add more pass rush to this defense, as Shaq Thompson and will lead their linebacker unit. Tr'Davious White is listed as doubtful for this game with a groin injury.

Spread pick for Ravens vs. Bills

  • Bills +1.5  (5 units)

The Bills are an underdog at home. That could be the entire pick paragraph, as this is likely the only time all season you will be able to get points with the Bills at their home stadium. Buffalo brings back their entire offensive unit, as the Baltimore defense continues to get older. Baltimore has Roquan Smith, Kyle Hamilton and Jaire Alexander as big names in their defense, but each has been in the league for a healthy amount of years and will have the battle with this strong Buffalo offense. Josh Allen is a beast, and Lamar Jackson is going to have to deal with Joey Bosa off the edge. The Bills are at home, grab the extra value with the points for security as the Bills open strong.

Take the Bills plus the points.

Over/Under Pick for Ravens vs. Bills

  • Under 50.5

This is a fade of the public, as most money is lying with the over. The difference here is that even though these are big-name quarterbacks, these teams still love to run the ball. Baltimore is not going to ignore Derrick Henry in their opening game of the season, and Buffalo just gave a little extra money to keep James Cook around. Both teams are going to play conservatively here in this nationally televised game, which will lead to a low-scoring battle. The more attempts Henry and Cook get, the more the clock keeps running. Keep in mind, both quarterbacks like to run the ball as well, and we will see the clock continually moving.

Take the under.
