Baltimore Ravens vs Indianapolis Colts Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Sunday September 13 2026

By: Al MacMillan Published 09/09/2026, 09:39 AM ET

Sunday's Baltimore Ravens vs Indianapolis Colts picks bring together one of the league's most difficult rushing offenses and an Indianapolis team trying to reset the quarterback position with Daniel Jones. Baltimore is favored by 3.5 at Lucas Oil Stadium, while the total has settled at 47.5 after being available around 48.5 earlier. The spread is sitting just beyond the key number of three, which creates a meaningful decision for anyone considering the road favorite.

Baltimore has the higher ceiling because Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry force defenses to defend every gap and every edge. Indianapolis has the home field, Jonathan Taylor and the benefit of getting more than a field goal. The Colts do not need to match Baltimore's explosiveness snap for snap to cover. They need to avoid the negative plays that let the Ravens turn a competitive game into a two-score problem.

Baltimore Ravens vs Indianapolis Colts Preview

Every Baltimore handicap begins with Jackson because his rushing threat changes the geometry of the defense before the ball is snapped. Linebackers cannot flow freely toward Henry, edge defenders have to respect the quarterback keep and safeties can be pulled into run support before Baltimore attacks behind them. That structure is why the Ravens can create explosive gains without relying on low-percentage throws. Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews become more dangerous when the defense is already stressed horizontally.

Indianapolis has to prevent the first-down avalanche. The worst possible script is allowing Henry to repeatedly create second-and-short, because that gives Jackson the entire playbook and keeps the Colts from attacking protection. The Ravens have had some turnover and uncertainty along the interior of the offensive line, so Indianapolis needs to create disruption there rather than chasing Jackson in space. Penetration is more valuable than simply loading the box with extra bodies.

The Colts' offensive path starts with Taylor. Daniel Jones is capable of adding yards with his legs, but Indianapolis does not want his first start of the season to become a high-volume comeback exercise against a Baltimore defense that can disguise pressure. Taylor can keep the pass rush honest, create play-action opportunities and reduce the number of obvious passing downs. If the Colts are still able to run the ball in the second half, they should remain within one possession.

Indianapolis also gets an important environment advantage from playing inside Lucas Oil Stadium. There is no wind or weather variable to disrupt the passing game, and the home crowd can make Baltimore's protection checks more difficult when the Ravens face third down. That does not erase the talent gap, but it supports the case for a competitive one-score game.

Jones also has to show that he can punish Baltimore when the Ravens bring pressure. The temptation against an aggressive defense is to hold the ball looking for a big play. That is usually when drives die. Indianapolis needs quick completions, throws to the backs and tight ends, and enough movement from Jones to change the launch point. His mobility can be useful, but only if it is part of the offense rather than a reaction to immediate pressure.

Baltimore is also beginning a new chapter under head coach Jesse Minter. The core identity around Jackson remains intact, yet season openers with staff changes can produce a few more communication errors and conservative decisions than the market expects. Indianapolis does not need Baltimore to play poorly. A couple of stalled drives and one extra red-zone field goal instead of a touchdown can be enough to keep the Colts inside +3.5.

Matchup Breakdown

The Ravens have the clearest matchup advantage when they force Indianapolis to tackle in space. Jackson's speed, Henry's power and Flowers' ability after the catch stress three different levels of the defense. The Colts need disciplined run fits more than reckless aggression. Losing contain on Jackson is the kind of mistake that turns a third-and-medium into a 20-yard gain and changes the entire scoring expectation of a drive.

Indianapolis can answer by making Baltimore defend a physical run game of its own. Taylor is capable of controlling tempo if the Colts' line gets movement, and a successful rushing attack would help keep Jackson on the sideline. The more Indianapolis can compress the game into eight or nine meaningful possessions per team, the more valuable the extra half-point beyond a field goal becomes.

The total has moved down from the upper 40s toward 47.5. That is understandable even with two talented rushing attacks. Both teams can shorten the game when the run is working, and Indianapolis should have little interest in turning Jones' debut into a shootout. Baltimore can score quickly, but its preferred game script after taking a lead is also built around Henry and clock control.

Game Thesis: Baltimore should create more explosive plays and has the better quarterback, which makes the Ravens the more likely winner. The spread asks for more than a field goal on the road, though, and Indianapolis has a realistic formula for staying close by leaning on Taylor, keeping Jones out of long-yardage situations and forcing Baltimore to finish drives rather than handing the Ravens short fields.

Ravens vs Colts Best Bet - Spread: Indianapolis +3.5 (-115)

The Colts are attractive specifically because the number is above three. Baltimore can be the better team and still win 24-21, which would cash an Indianapolis ticket. Taking +3.5 also fits a game in which the Colts should emphasize the run and try to reduce possessions. The key is avoiding turnovers that allow Baltimore to bypass the slow, physical game Indianapolis wants.

The concern is that Baltimore's rushing structure can overwhelm a defense before adjustments arrive. If Indianapolis cannot control the edges or Jackson starts converting third downs with his legs, the Colts may be forced into a faster game than Jones should be asked to play. Even with that risk, +3.5 offers a better entry point than backing Baltimore after the line has moved beyond the most important NFL margin.

Ravens vs Colts Total Pick: Under 47.5 (-105)

The Under works with the Indianapolis cover. Taylor should be central to the Colts' offense, while Baltimore can become increasingly run-heavy if it takes a second-half lead. Both approaches drain clock. The total is vulnerable to short-field touchdowns if Jones turns the ball over, but a clean game projects closer to the low-to-mid 40s than a full shootout.

Prediction: Baltimore Ravens 24, Indianapolis Colts 21
