The Chicago Bears (9-3) and the Green Bay Packers (8-3-1) will play a rivalry game with playoff implications on Sunday afternoon in this Bears vs. Packers prediction. Β This is the first of two matchups between these NFC North leaders this season. Chicago is coming off a strong 24-15 win on the road as 7-point underdogs. Green Bay just won on Thanksgiving in Detroit 31-24, winning outright as 3-point dogs. Kickoff is set for 4:25 EST and can be found regionally on FOX. Keep reading to see our Bears vs. Packers prediction, and start winning big with our best Free NFL Picks.

Chicago Tops the North

The Chicago Bears are the unexpected leaders in the NFC North, as they sit at the top with a 9-3 record. They have won each of their last five games, including strong wins over the Steelers and Giants over the last two weeks. Their playoff spot is not locked up yet, as they still have two games upcoming with this Green Bay team, and the Detroit Lions still looming in the background. In their last game, Kyle Monangai ran for 130 yards in the win over the Eagles.

Chicago used Ben Johnson's run scheme to put up huge numbers on the ground against Philadelphia, as Monangai finished with 130 yards, and De'Andre Swift ran for another 125 on the ground. Swift has been the lead back on the season, as he is now up to 774 yards and five touchdowns, with Monangai adding another 591 yards with five touchdowns. The Bears are led by Caleb Williams, who is beginning to live up to his hype as one of the best quarterbacks of the future. He is averaging 226.8 yards per game with a 17-5 TD-INT ratio, but is completing just 58.1% of his passes. Williams is a capable runner, gaining 306 rushing yards this season.

The Bears will be without Rome Odunze, as their leading receiver has been ruled out with a stress fracture in his foot. This leaves DJ Moore as their top receiving threat; he has 502 yards and three touchdowns on the season. Their defensive unit has 23 sacks on the season, led by defensive end Montez Sweat with 7.5. They have intercepted 17 passes, with safety Kevin Byard III leading the way with six.

Packers are in the Mix

The Green Bay Packers are more than alive for the NFC North crown, as they join the Bears and Lions near the top of the standings, making every game important coming down the stretch. The Packers are riding a three-game winning streak, having taken down the Giants, Vikings, and Lions over the past three weeks. Green Bay has one extra day off here, as they played on Thanksgiving while Chicago played on Friday night. In their win over the Lions, Jordan Love had had 234 passing yards and four touchdowns in the win over Detroit.

Love continues to improve, and is averaging 232.8 passing yards per game with a strong 19-3 TD-INT ratio. Love is completing 67.0% of his passes and has rushed for 164 yards on scrambles. He is coming off his best passing game of the season as he finished with four passing touchdowns and no interceptions against the Lions. Josh Jacobs is their top running back. The 27-year-old is in his first season with the Packers and has 731 yards with 11 touchdowns. Jacobs ran for 83 yards last week against Detroit.

The Packers have a balanced receiving attack, with seven players accumulating over 140 yards on the season so far. Their top pass catcher has been Romeo Doubs with 542 yards and five touchdowns as a 6'2 receiver. They have battled injuries, including losing young tight end Tucker Kraft, who was their second leading receiver in terms of yardage. The Packers have 32 sacks on the season, with Micah Parsons leading the way in his first season in Green Bay with 12.5. They have six interceptions, led by safety Evan Williams with three.

Injury Report for Packers

  • Out: TE Tucker Kraft (489 yards), DT Devonte Wyatt (4 sacks)
  • Questionable: S Javon Bullard (37 tackles)

Chicago is:

  • 8-2 ATS last 10 games.
  • 2-10 ATS last 12 vs. Packers.

Green Bay is:

  • 3-7 ATS last 10 games.
  • 6-3 Over last 9 games.
  • 5-1 Over last 6 at home.

Bears vs. Packers Picks

Spread pick and prediction for Bears vs. Packers

  • Packers -6.5 (5 units)

This is more of a fade on the Bears than it is a play on the Packers. Chicago has won five straight games, but they are not a new juggernaut in the league, and cannot be expected to keep it up against strong competition. Similar to how the Cowboys just went down to Detroit on Thursday, these up-and-coming teams cannot be expected to keep up the winning week after week. Caleb Williams is overly reliant on his coaching staff, as he is completing under 59% of his passes, and needed over 120 yards from two separate running backs last week to steal a win. Green Bay is healthier, as Chicago is without Odunze, which will cause problems in the passing game.

Take Green Bay to win and cover.

Over/Under Pick for Bears vs. Packers

  • Under 44.5 (4 units)

These teams are adjusting to life without some of their top targets in the passing game, and the stiff competition from each defense will keep this game under the total. Chicago is without Odunze, and he is their leading pass catcher this season, which will cause problems for Caleb when he needs to improvise. Green Bay is still without Kraft, who was slowly becoming one of the best tight ends in the league. These teams have a couple of recent wins over the Vikings and Giants; competition gets tougher here, which will lead to less scoring.

Take the under.
