Cleveland Looking to Pick Up Road Win

Cleveland suffered their third straight loss as they fell at home against Baltimore in their previous contest last Sunday. The Browns dropped to 2-8 on the season and are in the basement of the AFC North, four games behind the Steelers for the top spot. Against Baltimore, Cleveland was tied at three after the opening quarter, led 16-10 at the half, and after three quarters before getting outscored 13-0 in the final quarter to wind up with the loss. The Browns were outgained 351-187 in total offense, gave up 17 first downs while picking up 10 and lost time of possession by a 32:59 to 27:01 margin. Those numbers overshadowed the fact that they forced three turnovers, including a pick-six from Devin Bush, while committing one turnover. Rookie Dillon Gabriel (concussion) was injured and replaced by rookie Shedeur Sanders, who went 4 of 16 with a pick against the Ravens. Sanders is expected to get his first start in this game.

Entering week 12, the Browns are 31st in the league in passing offense with 159.4 yards per contest, while they are 26th in the league in rushing with 98 yards per game. Cleveland is 29th in the league in scoring offense with an average of 16.2 points per contest, while they are 18th in scoring defense by allowing 23.4 points per game. Dillon Gabriel is 109 of 184 passing for 937 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions while adding 86 yards on the ground. Joe Flacco (93 of 160, 825 yards, two TD, six INT, 13 rush yards before being traded to Cincinnati) and Shedeur Sanders (four of 16, 47 yards, INT, 16 rush yards) have seen action under center as well. Quinshon Judkins leads the run game with 157 carries for 620 yards and five scores this year. Jerome Ford (23 carries, 76 yards) and Dylan Sampson (31 carries, 66 yards) are also involved in the run game. Harold Fannin Jr. leads the team with 44 receptions for 422 yards and two scores. Jerry Jeudy (31 catches, 356 yards, TD), David Njoku (30 grabs, 288 yards, three TD) and Cedric Tillman (16 catches, 169 yards, two TD) are other options in the passing attack. Andre Szmyt has hit 15 of 16 extra point attempts and 15 of 18 field goal attempts with a long of 55 this season.

Key Injury report for Browns:

  • Gabriel (concussion) is out. Was starting QB.
  • TE David Njoku (knee) is questionable but did return to practice on Friday.
  • DE Alex Wright is out.
  • OT Jack Conklin (knee) was limited in practice and is questioanble
  • OT Cam Robinson (knee) is questionable.

Raiders Seeking to Earn Rare Victory

Las Vegas was rolled by Dallas on Monday Night Football at home as they suffered their fourth straight defeat. The Raiders fell to 2-8 on the year and are in the basement of the AFC West, 6.5 games behind the Broncos for the top spot. Against Dallas, Las Vegas was up 6-3 after the opening quarter before giving up 21 unanswered points to trail 24-6 and never got closer than 15 the rest of the way. The Raiders were outgained 381-236 in total offense, gave up 24 first downs while picking up 17, lost time of possession by a 33:36 to 26:24 margin and allowed a safety in the game. Both teams turned the ball over once.

For the season, the Raiders are 25th in the league in passing offense with 187.6 yards per contest, while they are tied for 30th in rushing offense by averaging 81.4 yards per contest. Las Vegas is 30th in scoring offense as they average 15.5 points per contest, while they are 24th in scoring defense as they allow 25.3 points per game. He has been sacked 31 times while ranking second on the team with 102 rushing yards.  Ashton Jeanty leads the ground game with 149 carries for 554 yards and four scores on the season. Rookie tight end Brock Bowers leads the team with 39 receptions for 455 yards plus three scores this season. Tre Tucker (38 grabs, 502 yards, five TD), Jeanty (29 catches, 163 yards, three TD) and Michael Mayer (21 receptions, 168 yards, TD) are other valuable targets. Browns vs. Raiders Pick

Spread Pick and Prediction for Browns vs. Raiders

  • Raiders -3.5 (4 units)

Both teams are going nowhere fast this season as they are in the basement of their respective divisions. Cleveland is going to turn to Sanders for his first career start with Gabriel still in the concussion protocol. He was less than stellar in his NFL debut, and while facing the Raiders is a softer landing than the Ravens, the fact remains that the Browns are a weak offensive unit. Las Vegas is at home, and they do have a veteran quarterback in Smith. Neither team is great offensively, and while the Browns are tough defensively, they are 0-5 on the road this season, both straight up and against the spread. Hold your nose and take the Raiders here.

Over/Under Pick for Browns vs. Raiders

  • Under 36.5 (4 units)

These are two of the four worst-scoring offenses in the league entering week 12 with the Browns 29th and the Raiders 30th in that category. Cleveland has seen the over post a 6-4 mark in their 10 games this season. On the road, the Browns have gone over the mark in three of their five games, though they have scored more than 17 points just once. Las Vegas has seen the under go 6-4 in their 10 games on the season. The Raiders have scored 20 points or fewer in five of their last six games. Neither offense is good and with Sanders potentially starting at quarterback, you have to downgrade Cleveland’s offense. Take the under as 17 points may well be enough to win this rock fight.
