The Washington Commanders will visit the New York Giants on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in Week 15 NFL action. We have you ready to go with our Commanders vs. Giants prediction, preview, and picks. Kick-off from East Rutherford, NJ, is at 1:00 p.m. ET.

New York is a 2.5-point spread favorite, and the game total is 46.5 points scored.

Washington beat New York 21-6 on September 7 in DC. The Commanders outgained the Giants 432-231, with over 200 yards on the ground and through the air. The G-Men were a combined 5-for-18 on third and fourth down, as QB Russell Wilson was inefficient (17-for-37 passing) and the run game produced only 74 yards. Can Commanders will their way to a win?

Washington (3-10 SU, 4-9 ATS, and 6-7 O/U) has dropped eight straight games, covering the spread only once during that span. The Commanders were shut out by Minnesota last weekend in a 31-point drubbing, as QB Jayden Daniels exited the game midway through the third quarter (elbow). They were a combined 4-for-13 on third and fourth down despite averaging 4.7 yards per rush, as the passing game was inefficient (3.8 yards per pass and two interceptions).

“When you get beat 31-0, it’s not about offense or defense. That’s just bad,” WR Terry McLaurin said. “We just didn’t play any kind of complementary football, and this is the result.”

Veteran QB Marcus Mariota is 1-5 as the starter. He has passed for 1,389 yards with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions, completing 62.9 percent of his attempts. His top receiving targets are WR Deebo Samuel (62 receptions for 561 yards and five TDs) and WR Terry McLaurin (23 receptions for 340 yards and two TDs). Washington's run game is paced by RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (125 carries for 550 yards and four TDs).

The Commanders score 20.2 points per game (24th) and average 327.5 total yards (18th), including 191.0 passing yards (24th) and 136.5 rushing yards (4th). Washington's defense allows 27.2 points (28th) and 382.5 total yards (30th), including 246.9 passing yards (30th) and 135.5 rushing yards (29th).

Washington Commanders Injury Report:

  • OUT: QB Jayden Daniels (Left Elbow), DE Drake Jackson (Groin/Knee), and CB Jonathan Jones (Rib).
  • QUESTIONABLE: RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. (Groin) and WR Deebo Samuel Sr. (Illness).

Giants' run defense is in for a huge challenge

New York (2-11 SU, 7-6 ATS, and 8-5 O/U) has lost seven consecutive games, but covered the spread in four. The G-Men, who are coming off a bye week, lost 33-15 at New England in Week 13. They were shut out 17-0 in the first quarter and only scored once until the fourth quarter. The Giants were a combined 4-for-14 on third and fourth down, as the Patriots outgained them 395-239.

“We were just scratching and clawing. You’re trying to find any way to catch up,” QB Jaxson Dart said.

The Ole Miss product Dart returned after missing two weeks (concussion) against the Pats. He has appeared in ten games, completing 63.6 percent of his passes for 1,556 yards with 11 touchdowns and three picks. He's also a factor in the run game (61 carries for 337 yards and seven TDs). Dart's top receiving targets are WR Wan'Dale Robinson (73 receptions for 828 yards and three TDs) and TE Theo Johnson (42 receptions for 456 yards and five TDs). With rookie RB Cam Skattebo injured, second-year pro Tyrone Tracy Jr. (113 carries for 434 yards and one TD) paces New York's run game.

The Giants score 21.5 points per game (23rd) and average 340.1 total yards (15th), including 216.6 passing yards (16th) and 123.5 rushing yards (12th). New York's defense surrenders 28.2 points (30th) and 385.8 total yards (31st), including 231.5 passing yards (24th) and 154.2 rushing yards (31st).

New York Giants Injury Report:

  • OUT: WR Beaux Collins (Neck/Concussion), OLB Victor Dimukeje (Knee), CB Nic Jones (Shoulder), DL Rakeem Nuñez-Roches Sr. (Ankle), and OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux (Shoulder).
  • DOUBTFUL: P Jamie Gillan (Left Knee).
  • QUESTIONABLE: DL D.J. Davidson (Illness), OL Joshua Ezeudu (Calf), LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (Illness/Neck/Knee), CB Art Green (Hamstring), DL Dexter Lawrence (Hamstring), LB Darius Muasau (Ankle), and WR Gunner Olszewski (Concussion).

Commanders vs. Giants Pick and Preview

Spread Pick for Commanders vs. Giants

  • Washington +2.5 (5 Units)

Betting Trends: NY is 1-5 SU with extended rest since the start of last season. Washington is also in a profitable spot to bounce back after being shut out in the last game. Since 2015, teams that scored zero points in their previous game are 34-17-3 ATS, including 4-0 this season.

I like the Commanders' side ATS. The Giants' run defense has been awful all season, and it is in for a challenge this week, especially with Lawrence questionable after suffering a hamstring injury in Friday's practice. Even off a bye, the Giants' injury report is far longer than the Commanders'. Washington's running game is likely to exploit this vulnerability, as the visitors rank sixth in yards per attempt and fourth in rushing yardage this season. Mariota hasn't led the Commanders to many wins as the QB1, but he played well in his last two starts, keeping the team competitive in a three-point loss to Miami and a one-point loss to Denver.

While Dart's return to action should help New York, you have to consider the talent playing around him. Interim HC Mike Kafka has introduced more Pistol formation and has encouraged more downfield passes than QB runs. That's unlikely to change this week, given how many hits New York's rookie signal-caller has taken. With all that said, can the G-Men put up enough points to cover on Sunday? If Dart is a one-man wrecking crew, that's unlikely to happen.

Over/Under Pick for Commanders vs. Giants

  • Over 46.5 (4 Units)

I doubt we'll see much defense in Sunday's divisional clash in New Jersey. Washington is likely to run all over the Giants (6.7 yards per carry allowed in the last three games), and Mariota has enough moxie to make winning plays, especially with the pass-catching duo of McLaurin and Samuel at his disposal. Last week's dismal performance should motivate this group to snap its seven-game losing streak. Dart will also have ample opportunities against a soft Commanders pass defense. He'll provide a spark to the offense. While NY's skill position players are underperforming, this is a good matchup for them, as Washington ranks dead last in the NFL in passing yards allowed per attempt (8.1).

In a matchup between two of the league's worst defenses, I recommend a wager on the total to go over 46.5 points.
