Green Bay Trying to Reverse Late Season Slide

Green Bay floundered down the stretch as they closed the year with four straight losses as they fell to Minnesota on the road in their regular season finale last Sunday. The Packers finished second in the NFC North with a 9-7-1 mark on the year. Against Minnesota, Green Bay was stifled offensively, not scoring until the game’s final play, to wind up with the loss. The Packers trailed 3-0 after the opening quarter, 13-0 at the half and 16-0 in the fourth quarter en route to the loss. Green Bay was drubbed 363-121 in total offense, gave up 23 first downs while recording 12 and lost time of possession by a 33:30 to 26:30 margin. Those numbers far overshadowed the fact that they forced the game’s lone turnover.

Bears Seeking to Earn First Playoff Win Since 2010

Chicago fell to Detroit in a meaningless regular season finale to Detroit at home last week but ended up with the #2 seed in the NFC playoffs. The Bears ended the year 11-6 and won the NFC North as they seek their first playoff win since 2010 here. Against Detroit, Chicago sputtered most of the way, trailing 3-0 after the opening quarter, 13-0 at the half and 16-0 after three quarters before rallying. The Bears tied the game at 16 with 5:25 to play before falling on a Jake Bates’ 42-yard field goal as time expired. Chicago was outgained 433-270 in total offense, gave up 26 first downs while allowing 16, lost time of possession by a 35:45 to 24:15 margin. Both teams turned the ball over once in the game.

On the season, the Bears are 10th in the league in passing offense with 225.1 yards per game while they are 3rd in rushing by averaging 144.5 yards per contest. Moneyline Pick for Packers vs. Bears

  • Bears +110 (4 units)

Green Bay stumbled down the stretch with four straight losses and having Micah Parsons sidelined for the year is a big blow. The Packers will have Love back under center but having Wicks go down with a concussion takes a weapon out of the passing game. Chicago showed grit by rallying to beat the Packers a few weeks ago in overtime at home and then dug their way out of a two-score hole to tie the Lions before falling at the final gun. The Bears are getting healthier at this point in time and with the Packers on the road, without momentum, you can’t get amped about their chances. Take the Bears in this one.

Over/Under Pick for Packers vs. Bears

  • Over 44.5 (4 units)

Green Bay has seen the over post a 9-8 mark in their 17 games on the season entering this game. The Packers have seen the over go 6-3 in their nine road games on the season. Chicago has seen the over post an 8-8-1 mark in their 17 games on the year. The Bears stayed under the mark in six of their eight home games on the year. We saw the teams split the two meetings this season in relation to the total, combining for 49 points at Lambeau Field against a number of 43.5 before 38 combined points at Soldier Field against a number of 44.5 in the second meeting. With Love back, the Packers giving up at least 21 points in five of their last six and the Bears good on offense, take the over here.
