Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens Picks and Prediction, Sunday, October 5, 2025
Use Code WWWC The Baltimore Ravens will host the Houston Texans on Sunday in a battle of 1-3 teams, who still have expectations of winning their respective divisions this season. Houston is coming off its first victory of the season after defeating the Tennessee Titans 26-0 last week. As for the Ravens, they will be looking to end a two-game skid after falling to the Kansas City Chiefs 37-20 in their most recent game. These teams met last season on Christmas Day, and the Ravens won 31-2 in Houston as a 6.5-point favorite.

Whereβs the offense?
The Houston Texans avoided a disastrous 0-4 start by beating the Tennessee Titans 26-0 this past Sunday. The game was 6-0 after three quarters, but CJ Stroud tossed two touchdown passes in the fourth and Wood Marks sealed things with an 18-yard touchdown run in the final five minutes.

The Texans outgained the Titans 353 to 175 in total yards and won the turnover battle 1-0. Stroud went 22 for 28 with two touchdowns and 233 passing yards on the season. Rookie Wood Marks led the way with 69 rushing yards and 50 receiving yards, running for a score, and also adding one on the receiving end.
On the season, Houston is No. 1 in defensive scoring (12.8 ppg), fifth in total yards allowed, and sixth in passing yards allowed. Offensively, the Texans have struggled, averaging 16 ppg (29th), and they are also 23rd in both rushing and passing yards per game.
In terms of injuries, DT Denico Autry (knee), DT Foley Fatukasi (shoulder) and S Jaylen Reed (knee) are out.
Lamar Jackson is out
The Ravens have the same 1-3 record as the Texans, but the way they have gotten here has been different. Baltimore is dead last in defensive scoring, allowing 33.3 ppg, and second to last, allowing 406.8 total yards per game. On offense, Baltimore is third, scoring 32.8 ppg and 13th with 338 total yards per game. On the offensive side, things will be completely different this week as quarterback Lamar Jackson is out with a hamstring injury.
Filling in for Jackson will be Cooper Rush. Rush completed 9 of 13 passes for 52 yards in last weekβs 37-20 loss at Kansas City.Β Last season, Rush threw for 1,844 yards with 12 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 60.7 completion percentage in 12 games for the Dallas Cowboys. With Jackson out, expect to see a lot of RB Derrick Henry, who is eighth in the NFL with 284 rushing yards this season, to go along with three touchdowns and 5.8 yards per attempt. However, he has also fumbled three times, losing two.
The defense has also been decimated by injuries as CB Marlon Humphrey, LB Roquan Smith, DT Nnamdi Madubuike, and CB Chidobe Awuzie are all out.
Houston Texans vs Baltimore Ravens Predictions
Spread Pick for Texans vs. Ravens
- Ravens +1 (4 units)
The Baltimore Ravens have owned the Houston Texans in prior head-to-head meetings, winning the last six, and covering in the last five straight. This includes a 34-10 playoff win by the Ravens over the Texans on January 20, 2024.
I understand that Lamar Jackson is out, but the Texans' offense has shown little to be excited about, averaging 9.5 ppg on the road this season and 30th in first downs. Cooper Rush is an experienced veteran who appeared in 12 games with the Dallas Cowboys last season and beat the Texans. He has an 83.6 career quarterback rating, with 20 touchdowns to 10 interceptions for his career. He is no Lamar Jackson, but he still gives Baltimore a chance and still has Derrick Henry to hand the ball to and a talented group of receivers led by Zay Flowers.
I expect the Ravens to rally behind Cooper Rush against a Texans team that I have a hard time trusting in this environment. Missing a two-time MVP definitely hurts, but I like Baltimore to get the job done.
Total Prediction:
- Under 41 (4 units)
Houston is averaging just 16 ppg, with 31% of their points this season coming in the fourth quarter last week against Tennessee. The Ravens' defensive numbers havenβt been pretty, but they have also faced the Bills, Lions and Chiefs this season, to go along with a game against the Browns. With both teams desperate not to fall to 1-4, expect a conservative defensive battle, with a lot of field goals.
I will take the under, expecting a 20-16 Ravens victory.
