Los Angeles Controls Division
The Los Angeles Chargers are off to a strong start and have put themselves in a great spot in the AFC West. The Chargers opened the season with three straight games against their divisional rivals and came away with three wins as they sit at the top of the division. Their last game was against the Broncos, as they overcame a 20-13 deficit with a late Keenan Allen touchdown, followed by a game-winning field goal from Cameron Dicker.
Justin Herbert is their 27-year-old quarterback who has been starting for the team in each of his six seasons in the NFL. He is among the MVP favorites this season, and has great size and athleticism at 6'6 and 240 pounds. He is averaging 286.7 passing yards per game, with a strong 6-1 TD-INT ratio. Herbert is capable of running with his 69 yards on the ground, but the team's top back is Omarion Hampton, who is in his rookie season out of North Carolina. Hampton has 142 rushing yards through three games and scored his first career touchdown last week against Denver.
Keenan Allen has survived multiple surgeries, and the 33-year-old receiver has still been a top target for Herbert this season. Allen has 19 catches for 194 yards and three touchdowns, while Quentin Johnson has another 14 grabs for 239 yards and three touchdowns. Their defense has seven sacks and three interceptions on the year, with linebacker Daiyan Henley leading the way with two sacks.

Giants Turn to Rookie
The New York Giants will turn their offense over to rookie Jaxson Dart, as many thought it was only a matter of time until the team put Dart in for good. Russell Wilson started the first three games of the season, and while he put up big numbers against Dallas, he was still underwhelming in their 0-3 start. Dart was drafted in the first round and will now be asked to lead the New York offense out of this 0-3 hole. In their last game, New York got 60 rushing yards and 61 receiving yards from rookie Cam Skattebo in the loss.
Dart takes over the offense after having a successful career at Ole Miss under Lane Kiffin. He was seen in spot play, but this will be his first start, as he is joined by Skattebo in the backfield, who is also in his first season. Skattebo is quickly becoming a fan favorite due to his toughness and intensity in the run game. He has 102 rush yards to start the season and has scored two touchdowns. Tyrone Tracy Jr. was another option in the run game; he has 68 yards on 22 carries, but will miss this game with a shoulder injury.
WT Malik Nabers is their big name in the passing game; opposing defenses focus on him, but he still leads the team with 251 receiving yards with 16 catches and two touchdowns. Wan'Dale Robinson is another option in the passing game with 223 yards through three games. Their defense has eight sacks and one interception on the season, with edge rusher Brian Burns leading the way with four sacks.

Spread pick and prediction for Chargers vs. Giants
- Giants +6.5 (5 units)
Fade the action. The NFL can be unpredictable at times, but this number is too big to ignore given the circumstances. First, the sharks in Vegas know all the money is going to be coming in on the Chargers, but this line is still under a touchdown, signifying that the Giants may have more fight than expected. This is also a trap game for the Chargers, who just battled all three divisional opponents in a row, and now must travel across the country to the East Coast for a 1:00 start. This is a famous spot to take the East Coast underdog, and the addition of Dart may give their roster an extra boost as it was clear they were not ready to follow Russell Wilson into war. The Giants keep this one close.
Take the Giants to cover.
Over/Under Pick for Chargers vs. Giants
- Under 43.5 (4 units)
The strength of the Giants this season has been their defense. They held the Chiefs and Commanders to under 23 points, and will do the same here against the Chargers, who are travelling across the country for this early start. New York will also rely heavily on the ground game, as they will not ask Dart to pass too much in their opener, as they want their rookie to look good in his first start. Los Angeles will find a tougher opponent than expected in this game and will play conservatively in hopes of leaving New York with a tight win.
Take the under.
