The Patriots are 9-2 and they are tied for the best record in the sport and in the AFC with the Broncos. New England has won eight straight games behind quarterback Drake Maye. The Bengals have been struggling with their 3-7 record and the sport’s worst defense. Cincinnati has seven of their last eight outings. These two teams will meet with kick-off set for 1 P.M. EST.

New England’s outstanding season continues, tied for league’s best record

New England is 9-2 overall this season. They are leading the AFC East by two games over the 7-4 Buffalo Bills. The Patriots are also tied with the Denver Broncos for the best record in the AFC and the entire NFL. New England is a perfect 5-0 when playing on the road this season, the only team to have this mark. After starting 1-2, the Patriots are riding an eight-game win streak.

In their last game, the Patriots defeated the Jets 27-14 at home on Thursday, Nov. 13. The Jets led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Patriots were able to settle down and score 21 unanswered points. Two field goals in the fourth quarter put the game out of reach as New England was able to come away with another win. The Patriots defense allowed just 245 yards and 105 passing yards in the win. They forced one turnover while New England’s offense gained 336 offensive yards.

Quarterback Drake Maye is having an MVP-caliber season as he threw for 281 yards on 25-for-34 passing and a touchdown against the Jets. Last week marked rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson’s best games with 62 yards and two touchdowns.

Henderson leads the running backs with 492 yards and five touchdowns. Stefon Diggs is having an outstanding season with 659 receiving yards and three touchdowns as he’s emerged as the team’s top wideout.

On defense, Robert Spillane has been everywhere this season. He leads the team with 90 total tackles, which is 37 more tackles than anyone else on the roster. Linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson has a team-high 6.5 sacks on the season. The defense has also forced 12 turnovers on the year.

Key Injuries for Patriots

  • RB Rhomondre Stevenson (toe) is questionable.
  • TE Austin Hooper (concussion) is questionable.
  • DE Milton Williams (ankle) is out. Has 3.5 sacks. Was placed on the IR.

Joe Burrow’s return is imminent for Cincinnati

Cincinnati is 3-7 overall this season. The Bengals are in third place in the AFC North as they trail the Steelers and Ravens, who are both at or above .500. The Bengals are just one game ahead of last-place Cleveland. The Bengals are 2-3 when they have played on the road this year. They have lost three straight games coming into this week. The Bengals have also lost seven of their last eight games.

In their last game, the Bengals lost 34-12 to the Steelers on Sunday, Nov. 16. It was another disappointing defeat for Cincinnati, who was coming off their bye week. The Bengals tied the game at 7-7 thanks to a passing touchdown from Joe Flacco to Tee Higgins, but the Bengals would never lead in the outing. Cincinnati’s defense continues to be the worst in the sport as they allowed 343 yards of offense and allowed the Steelers to go 7-for-13 on third down. Two of Pittsburgh’s touchdowns were directly off a turnover, a pick six and a fumble recovery score.

Flacco has thrown for 1,453 yards with the Bengals. He has tossed 12 touchdowns and three interceptions on the season while completing 63% of his throws. The pass first offense is led in rushing by Chase Brown, with 519 yards and two touchdowns. Ja’Marr Chase is the top wideout with 861 yards and five touchdowns.

Chase will miss this week’s game due to suspension. Chase will be held out of this game due to spitting on defensive back Jalen Ramsey in the game against the Steelers.

Starting quarterback Joe Burrow is nearing a return after dealing with a turf toe injury for a majority of the season. He has been a full participate earlier in the week. On Friday, he was limited in practice and is considered questionable for this game.

"I think Joe has done everything he can to put himself in a position to get back," Taylor said on Nov. 21. "We are just going to keep taking our time on this one. No decision has been made. He was limited today in practice. I feel comfortable waiting as long as we can to make this decision. "

Cincinnati is averaging 22.8 points per game, which ranks 18th in the league. They are the third-worst rushing attack, averaging just 81.4 yards per game. The Bengals are averaging 225.7 passing yards per game, placing them 14th.

On defense, the Bengals are allowing 33.4 points per game, which ranks last. They are the worst rush defense giving up 160.9 yards per game. Offenses are averaging 257.3 passing yards per game against them, which places the Bengals' defense second-worst.

Cincinnati is 3-7 against the spread this season. They are 2-3 against the spread when they have played at home. The Bengals are 2-5 against the spread when they have been underdogs. They are also 1-4 against the spread as a single-digit underdog. The over is 6-3-1 when the Bengals have played this season. The over is 5-0 when the Bengals have played at home.

Key Injuries for Bengals:

  • QB Joe Burrow (toe) returned to practice this week, but was limited on Friday and is listed as questionable.
  • Backup RB Samaje Perine (ankle) is doubtful.
  • DE Trey Hendrickson (hip) is out.
  • DE Shemar Steawrt (knee) was placed on the IR.

New England Patriots vs Cincinnati Bengals Picks

Patriots vs Bengals Spread Pick

  • New England Patriots -7 (5 units)

The line is far too generous towards the Bengals in this game. Cincinnati is a mess at the moment and it all starts on defense. The defensive side of the ball has been leaking points left and right this year and the Steelers exposed them once again in last week’s loss. Drake Maye is one of the top quarterbacks in the league and with a newly improved Stefon Diggs, the offense should be on fire especially with a two-headed backfield of TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson. Joe Flacco’s offense has looked pretty solid, but they will be missing the most dynamic wide receiver in the league. Ja’Marr Chase is suspended for this game due to spitting on a player in last week’s loss. The offense will not be nearly as productive and the Patriots' defense should force a turnover or two, securing another win. New England also loves playing on the road as they are 5-0 against the spread in these situations.

Take New England to cover.

Patriots vs Bengals Over/Under Pick

  • Over 51 (5 units)

The Bengals continue to have the worst defense in the league. They cannot stop anyone’s offense from moving the ball down the field in chunk plays. Cincinnati is allowing the most points per age and they have the worst rush defense and second-worst pass defense. The Patriots offense has been on fire and with them averaging the seventh-most points, they should feast on offense. The Bengals offense is scoring well, too. Joe Flacco has shown that the team can score as well. Tee Higgins will be needed for a big game, but this has a high scoring game written all over it. The over is 5-0 when Cincinnati has played at home. The over is 3-2 when New England has played on the road, too.

Take the over on Sunday.
