New Orleans showing improvement
The New Orleans Saints come into this matchup at 1-5, but have shown steady improvement over the past several weeks. The offense, in particular, has played better and better each week under 2nd-year quarterback Spencer Rattler. Rattler hasn’t thrown an interception since week 3 against Buffalo.
“We had opportunities — everyone can feel that,” said Head Coach Kellen Moore, who has seen his team lose three times by a touchdown or less. "I've got to figure out a way to get us there. We’re close. We’re knocking on the door.”
Quarterback Spencer Rattler finished the game with 227 yards passing, completing 20-of-26 passes. Taysom Hill, back in the lineup for the first time last week, scored a 1-yard run. The Saints could not convert in the red zone, however, settling for four Blake Grupe field goals. The Saints finished with 296 yards of total offense.

Bears on a roll
The Chicago Bears improved to 3-2 on the season with a road upset win over the Commanders on Monday night, 25-24. The win was the third in a row for the Bears, as both second-year quarterback Caleb Williams and first-year head coach Ben Johnson continue to settle into their roles. The Bears returned the favor from last year’s heartbreaking Hail Mary pass loss to the Commanders. This time, the Bears pulled out the last-second win with a field goal as time expired.
"It felt great," said Williams, a Washington D.C. native who threw for 252 yards and had two total touchdowns. "Back in the hometown, obviously. Being able to come out with a win like that is big for us. Big for us as a team, big for us as an offense, special teams, just overall big for us. That's a hell of a team over there. So being able to come out victorious in a dogfight where things weren't perfect, the weather wasn't perfect, being able to come out victorious is big for us. So, feel great."
Williams spread the ball around in the game, completing passes to nine different receivers, including a touchdown pass to running back D’Andre Swift. Swift was a big factor in the game. Saints vs. Bears Pick
Point Spread Pick for Saints vs. BearsÂ
- Bears -4.5 (4 units)
The Bears are playing much-improved football, winners of three straight games. They even found a ground attack in week five, with Swift rushing for over 100 yards. The Saints have played better, limiting turnovers, but have lost both their road contests by double-digit margins. They are just 28th in the NFL in scoring and have had trouble finishing drives, ranked 25th in the red zone. The Bears are the top turnover margin team in the NFL, and come off a game in which they forced three turnovers by the Commanders. The Bears are susceptible to the run, but the Saints are just 24th in the league in rushing. They’ll force the Saints into third and longs and keep the Saints’ offense at bay.
Take the Bears -4.5
Over/Under Pick for Saints vs. BearsÂ
- Over 47.5 (4 units)
The Bears have gone over the number in four of their five games and are looking more and more comfortable in Ben Johnson’s offense. If Swift can continue to keep defenses honest, Williams will get better and better. The Saints’ Rattler has played better, limiting his turnovers and moving the offense up and down the field. They have gone over the number in three of their five games. The Bears will cover the spread here, but both teams will put up points.
Take the over, 47.5
