New York Giants vs Miami Dolphins Picks and Prediction for Saturday, August 22, 2026

The New York Giants visit the Miami Dolphins on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium, with the opening kickoff at 4:00 PM ET. New York is 0-1 in the preseason after losing 13-10 to Minnesota last Saturday. Miami is also 0-1 following a 20-7 road loss to Washington on Friday. Jaxson Dart played briefly and threw a touchdown for the Giants, while new Dolphins starter Malik Willis directed a touchdown drive on his only series. Both teams have several roster competitions to evaluate in their second preseason game. Cash in on a big winner with our free NFL picks.

New York Giants Continue Working Under John Harbaugh

New York scored all 10 of its points in the second quarter against Minnesota. Dart completed 3 of 4 passes for 26 yards and finished his short appearance with a 15-yard touchdown pass to rookie Malachi Fields. Dart was sacked twice and briefly evaluated for a concussion before returning. Jameis Winston later connected with Odell Beckham Jr. twice, although the veteran receiver totaled only six yards. The Giants were held scoreless throughout the second half and could not answer Minnesota’s 10 third-quarter points.

The preseason gives new coach John Harbaugh valuable time to install different offensive and defensive systems. Wide receiver remains an important competition with Beckham, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Braxton Berrios and several others fighting for roster positions. New York is also evaluating the cornerback spot opposite Paulson Adebo, where Greg Newsome II, Colton Hood and Deonte Banks are candidates. Rookie linebacker Arvell Reese is another player to monitor as the Giants determine how to use the fifth overall pick in different defensive roles.

Miami Dolphins Need More From Their Reserves

Miami opened its game against Washington with an impressive 14-play, 93-yard touchdown drive. Willis completed 4 of 5 passes for 43 yards and added nine rushing yards before De’Von Achane scored from one yard. Achane rushed seven times for 39 yards on the opening possession. Rookie Caleb Douglas also made a one-handed 28-yard reception. Once the starters left, however, Miami did not score again. Quinn Ewers completed just 1 of 8 passes for 27 yards with an interception.

The Dolphins are evaluating a young roster after making several offseason changes. Wide receiver is one of the biggest competitions, with Douglas among several newcomers looking for opportunities alongside Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell and others. Miami also has questions in the secondary, where several players are competing for starting and reserve roles. The coaching staff will want better production from its backup quarterbacks after Ewers and Cam Miller combined for three interceptions against Washington. Those reserve snaps become especially important during the second preseason game.

What to Watch

New York can use Saturday to give Dart additional work in Harbaugh’s new offense. The second-year quarterback played only briefly against Minnesota but completed three of four attempts and finished with a touchdown. The Giants also need more information on a crowded receiver group before making roster decisions.

Miami’s quarterback depth deserves even more attention. Willis looked comfortable during his only series, but the offense stalled after he left. Ewers and Miller combined to complete only four of 19 passes. Better reserve quarterback play would give Miami a chance to sustain drives later in Saturday’s game.

New York Giants vs Miami Dolphins Game Pick

  • New York Giants +1

New York +1 is the game pick because the Giants showed more reliable quarterback depth in their preseason opener. Dart completed three of four passes and threw a touchdown before Winston entered, while Miami’s offense struggled badly once Willis left the field. Ewers and Miller combined for four completions on 19 attempts with three interceptions. New York also has a crowded receiver competition that should create meaningful snaps throughout the game. With both teams evaluating reserves, the Giants have enough quarterback options to produce the stronger performance Saturday.

New York Giants vs Miami Dolphins Over/Under Pick

  • Under 37.5

The under is the total pick after both teams struggled to score in their preseason openers. New York produced only 10 points against Minnesota and was shut out in the second half. Miami scored seven points on its opening possession before going scoreless for the rest of its loss to Washington. The Dolphins’ reserve quarterbacks combined for three interceptions, while the Giants also had limited offensive production after Dart exited. With both coaching staffs focused heavily on roster evaluation, sustained scoring drives could again be difficult to produce Saturday, creating fewer scoring opportunities.
