Can the Patriots extend their winning streak with a blowout home win on Thursday evening? Check out the Jets vs. Patriots prediction. When it comes to college football selections, our NFL Predictions are stellar!

Jets Win Second Straight Game

The New York Jets are targeting win number three on the season. New York is having yet another disappointing season, but it is playing with confidence now. They were 0-7 to begin the season, but have answered with two straight wins. They lost 13-6 against Carolina just before the two wins. New York beat the Bengals two weeks ago for their first win. Next, the Jets posted a 27-20 home triumph against the Browns on Sunday in a clash that had the Jets as two-point dogs. The Jets have covered the spread in three of their past five games.

Justin Fields only attempted 11 passes last week. The 26-year-old QB has posted 50 or fewer passing yards in three of his past four games. Fields has netted 1143 passing yards and a 6:1 TD to INT ratio. He has added 316 rushing yards. The New York offense will run more than most teams. Breece Hall has been outstanding. The 24-year-old running back has amassed 59 or more yards in six games this season. Hall has delivered 664 rushing yards on the season.

Garrett Wilson is targeted heavily each week. The 25-year-old RB sustained a knee injury last week and is not going to play. Wilson has 395 receiving yards on the season. Mason Taylor has solid numbers for a tight end, yielding 246 yards. The New York offense issued only 169 total yards against the Browns last week. This drops their season average to 285 yards per game.

The Jets' defense is their top strength, but it has a different look after trading CB Sauce Gardner and DT Quinnen Williams. The unit has kept its opponent to 20 or fewer points in three of its past four games. They held Cleveland to 278 yards last week and are yielding an average of 329 yards per game.Β  Cornerback Brandon Stephens is now the #1. He has deflected five passes.Β  The pass defense is among the best, ranking eighth, while the rush defense is ranked 25th.

New York is averaging 21.7 points on the year, ranking them 25th. The Jets are conceding an average of 26.8 points, pegging them 26th.

Patriots Extend Winning Streak in Road Win

The New England Patriots are seeking an eighth straight win. New England was 1-2 after three games and has not lost since. They now stand 1.5 games ahead of the Bills atop the AFC East. The Patriots have defeated the Bills in the winning streak. The squad posted a home win against the Falcons to begin November, followed by a 28-23 road win against the Buccaneers last week. They were 2.5-point dogs in that one. The Patriots have covered the spread in five of their past six games.

Drake Maye continues to succeed. The 23-year-old QB has surpassed 250 passing yards in five of his past six games, including 270 yards last week. Maye has recorded 2555 passing yards, accompanied by a 19:5 TD to INT ratio. The running game has also been steady. Rookie TreyVeon Henderson was key in the win last week, netting 147 rushing yards against a good rush defense. Henderson has issued 430 rushing yards on an average of 5.3 yards per rush. He has a knee injury and is questionable. Rhamondre Stevenson is also questionable.

Stefon Diggs is targeted by Maye more than any other receiver. The 31-year-old star has reached 100 receiving yards in two games this season and has registered 554 receiving yards. Kayshon Boutte did not play last week due to injury. The veteran has 431 receiving yards. The New England offense generated 435 yards against a strong defense last week, improving its season average to 359 yards per game.

The Patriots' defense has been among the best in the NFL. They have kept their opponent to 23 or fewer points in all but one game. Last week, gave up 371 total yards against theΒ  Tampa Bay offense. They are holding opponents to 306 yards per game. Marcus Jones has been stingy at CB, deflecting nine passes. The pass defense is subpar, standing 21st, while the rush defense is a huge strength, ranking 1st.

New England is scoring an average of 26.5 points on the season, rating them eighth. The Patriots are keeping opponents to 19.2 points, good for sixth in the NFL.

Jets vs. Patriots Pick

Spread Pick for Jets vs. Patriots

  • New York Jets +12.5 (5 units)

The New York Jets are a team that cannot be underestimated. They are a confident group after winning two straight games. Many of their defeats were narrow decisions. The Jets only lost by two points against good teams in the Buccaneers and Broncos. The New England Patriots are obviously hot, but this is a big spread for a divisional game.

Furthermore, one area in which New York thrives is on the ground. They are averaging 142 rushing yards per game, ranking them fourth in the league. Tampa Bay was able to average five yards per rush against this Patriots' defense last week. Moreover, New England has a potent passing offense led by Drake Maye, but it won’t be easy in this one. Even without Sauce Gardner, the Jets' secondary remains stingy. They only conceded 167 passing yards last week and stand 8th in pass defense.

Over/Under Pick for Jets vs. Patriots

  • Under 43.5 (5 units)

I expect this one to go under. New York will score enough to cover, but won’t post huge numbers against a strong defense. The Patriots' defense has established itself as one of the best. They have kept the opposition to 21 or fewer points in seven of their past 10 games. While I do expect some success on the ground, the Pats' rush defense is ranked 1st.

In addition, the Jets have conceded an average of only 21 points in their past four games. Also, New England will run more than pass. They only pass in 52% of their plays and will have extended drives. The under is a convincing 5-1 in the previous six meetings between these squads.
