Sunday's Philadelphia Eagles vs Tennessee Titans picks feature a favorite that has already moved through several important numbers. Philadelphia opened around -4.5 and is now laying a full touchdown, while the total has fallen from the low 40s to 39.5. The Eagles beat Washington 24-22 in Week 1, and Tennessee lost 23-10 to the Jets.

Jalen Hurts gives Philadelphia the clear quarterback advantage over Cam Ward, but the line movement means bettors are paying a much higher price for that edge than they were at the opener. The cleaner betting angle is the total, where Tennessee's offensive limitations and Philadelphia's offensive-line injuries both point toward a slower game.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Tennessee Titans Preview

Hurts threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns without an interception in the opener, while Saquon Barkley added 83 rushing yards. Philadelphia did not need a huge passing volume to score, and that is important here because the Eagles can lean on the run game if they build an early lead.

Tennessee's offense struggled to create sustained pressure on the Jets. Ward threw for 140 yards with one touchdown, and the Titans did not produce 200 total yards. Philadelphia's defense is more talented than the unit Tennessee just faced, so asking Ward to win from obvious passing situations is a difficult path.

The Eagles do have a protection concern. Left guard Landon Dickerson is on injured reserve, which changes the interior line in front of Hurts and Barkley. Philadelphia can compensate with movement, option concepts and quick throws, but the missing starter is one reason the offense may prefer a controlled plan rather than a high-volume dropback game.

Philadelphia also opened the week with Jalen Carter and Cooper DeJean not practicing. Those absences would matter if they carry into Sunday because Tennessee's best chance to stay competitive is to create a physical game, run efficiently and shorten the field with defense or special teams.

The move from Philadelphia -4.5 to -7 is significant because seven is one of the NFL's most important spread numbers. The Eagles are still playable at exactly -7 if the matchup is the focus, but the price becomes much less attractive at -7.5. The falling total is the more forgiving market because Tennessee has not shown that it can force Philadelphia into a shootout.

The Eagles also have the special-teams and field-position advantage that often matters when a total falls below 40. Philadelphia can be patient if Tennessee starts drives deep in its own territory because the Titans have not shown enough explosiveness to make every possession dangerous. That allows the Eagles to avoid unnecessary fourth-down risk and trust the defense to create another favorable field.

Matchup Breakdown

Philadelphia can attack Ward by changing coverage after the snap and making him hold the ball. The Titans need to protect him with the run game and high-percentage throws, but that approach naturally reduces pace and makes every red-zone possession more important.

Tennessee's defense has to survive Barkley and Hurts on the ground. The Eagles can create an extra blocker with quarterback-run concepts, and that stresses linebackers even when the passing game is not producing explosives. If Tennessee commits a safety downhill, Philadelphia can create one-on-one opportunities outside.

The total at 39.5 is low, but the scoring requirements are still demanding for Tennessee. A 24-13 game stays Under, and that type of result fits a script in which the Eagles control the second half without taking unnecessary risks. Philadelphia does not need 30 points to cover if its defense holds Ward in check.

The Titans' best chance is to win the turnover battle. If Ward protects the football and Tennessee can steal a possession, the full touchdown becomes valuable. If Philadelphia plays clean, the Eagles should have enough advantages in the trenches and at quarterback to create separation.

Tennessee can keep the spread competitive only if the defense gets off the field on third down. Philadelphia's rushing threat makes third-and-short especially difficult because Hurts can run quarterback power, hand to Barkley or use play action. The Titans need to win first down often enough to remove those options and force Hurts into more conventional dropbacks.

Ward's best chance is to use his arm talent outside the pocket before Philadelphia's coverage settles. The Titans cannot let every pass become a pure pocket read behind a line facing an aggressive front. Designed movement can help, but it also cuts the field in half and gives the Eagles clearer pursuit angles if Tennessee becomes predictable.

Philadelphia's defensive front should also benefit if Tennessee falls behind the chains. Ward has enough mobility to extend plays, but the Eagles can keep rush lanes disciplined and force him to throw from a compressed pocket. That is a difficult environment for a young quarterback, particularly when the offense has not yet shown it can consistently create separation downfield.

Game Thesis: Philadelphia should control the game with its run game, Hurts' efficiency and a defense that can force Ward into difficult passing situations. The Eagles can win by double digits without creating a high-possession shootout, making the Under the strongest way to express the matchup at the current market price.

Eagles vs Titans Best Bet - Total: Under 39.5 (-110)

Under 39.5 is the preferred wager because Tennessee's offense has not shown enough efficiency to justify expecting a large contribution to the total. Philadelphia can protect its own offensive line by leaning on Barkley and Hurts in the run game, and a lead would make the Eagles even more willing to drain clock.

The risk is defensive or special-teams scoring. A short field can move a low total quickly, and Ward has enough arm talent to create an explosive touchdown if Philadelphia loses discipline. The Under is strongest at 39.5 or better.

Eagles vs Titans Spread Pick: Philadelphia -7 (-110)

Philadelphia -7 is the secondary pick because the quarterback and trench advantages are still substantial. The Eagles can cover with a 24-13 type of result, but the number must be respected. At -7, a seven-point win pushes; at -7.5, the bettor loses that protection.

The spread has already moved sharply, so the current number is the ceiling rather than a price to chase higher.

Prediction: Philadelphia Eagles 24, Tennessee Titans 13
