San Francisco misses out on NFC West title, settles for wild card

San Francisco is 12-5 overall this season. The 49ers had a chance at winning the NFC West last week, but they suffered a loss to the Seahawks, who claimed the No. 1 seed in the NFC. The 49ers closed the season winning six of their last seven games, as they have navigated countless injuries consistently.

In their last game, the 49ers lost 13-3 to Seattle at home on Saturday, Jan. 3. San Francisco’s offense was stymied during the game as they accumulated just 173 yards. They went 2-for-9 on third down and turned the ball over once. San Francisco did not hav the ball very much either. The Seahawks won the ball control battle by over 15 minutes. Quarterback Brock Purdy threw for just 127 yards on 19-for-27 passing while running back Christian McCaffrey could not find any room to rush with 23 yards on eight carries.

49ers vs Eagles Spread Pick

  • Philadelphia Eagles -6 (5 units)

The Eagles rested their star players last week and they should be well rested for the opening game of the playoffs. Philadelphia has the players to make another Super Bowl run through strong offense and defense. The Eagles defense is one of the best as they allow the fifth-fewest points per game. They are also the eighth-best pass defense, which will cause the 49ers problems. Seattle exposed San Francisco’s poor offense as they struggled last week in a big time game. The 49ers are struggling with injuries and this could be a game where fatigue becomes a factor. Philadelphia’s home field advantage along with their strong defense will be a major difference in a low scoring game where Saquon Barkley shines.

Take the Eagles to cover.

49ers vs Eagles Over/Under Pick

  • Under 44 (5 units)

Both teams rely on the run, and deservedly so. Saquon Barkley leads the Eagles, while Christian McCaffrey is the main guy for the 49ers. While relying on the run, the clock will tick and long possessions are bound to happen. The two teams also pride themselves on defense, with the Eagles having the fifth-best scoring defense. The 49ers are also allowing under 22 points per game, too. Two teams with strong defenses and rushing attacks should make for a low scoring game. The under is 5-3 when the Eagles have played at home. The under is 4-2 when the total has been set at 44 points or more this season for Philadelphia.

Take the under on Sunday.
