Ducks vs. Golden Knights Matchup
The Ducks continue to roll
The Anaheim Ducks are riding a five-game winning streak. During that stretch, the Ducks have beaten the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers, twice – 3-2 in a shootout in Florida and 7-3 at Honda Center in Anaheim.

Last Thursday, the Ducks beat the Dallas Stars 7-5 as +145 road underdogs. Anaheim needed just 25 shots toward Jake Oettinger to score seven goals. Chris Kreider led the charge with a couple of goals, while Leo Carlsson and Cutter Gauthier accounted for a goal and an assist each.
Lukas Dostal gave up five goals on 26 shots in Dallas. The 25-year-old netminder is 7-3-1 with a 2.81 GAA and a .904 save percentage this season, while Petr Mrazek is 2-0-0 with a 5.52 GAA and a .831 save percentage.
In Joel Quenneville’s first season at the helm, the Ducks look like one of the best offensive teams in the league. They lead the NHL in goals for (4.15 per game) and rank third in shooting percentage (13.4%). Carlsson leads the charge with 20 points (G6, A14), while Gauthier has amassed 11 goals and seven assists. Center Mikael Granlund (G2, A6) is out with a lower-body injury.
The Golden Knights’ iffy form continues
The Vegas Golden Knights have dropped four of their previous six games overall, going 2-3-1 in the process. During that stretch, the Golden Knights have lost a couple of games against the Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-1 in overtime and 6-3, while beating the Carolina Hurricanes 6-3 and the Detroit Red Wings 1-0.
Last Thursday, Vegas hosted Tampa Bay, and Carl Lindbom gave up five goals on 26 shots. The Golden Knights took 32 shots toward Andrei Vasilevskiy and blew a 2-0 lead. Ivan Barbashev scored two goals and made an assist, while Mitch Marner scored a goal and posted two dishes.
Lindbom fell to 0-2-1 on the season. The Golden Knights miss their starting goalie, Adin Hill (lower body), and Akira Schmid is expected to guard the cage on Saturday night. Schmid is 6-1-0 with a 2.31 GAA and a .908 save percentage this season.
The Golden Knights score 3.31 goals per game (tied for 12th in the NHL) on an 11.5 shooting percentage (11th). Jack Eichel leads the way for Vegas with eight goals and 13 assists, while Mitch Marner has recorded 17 points (G4, A13) across his first 13 games with the Golden Knights.
Ducks vs. Golden Knights Pick
Spread Pick for Ducks vs. Golden Knights
- Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (5 units)
The Ducks visit the Golden Knights on the first night of a back-to-back. Anaheim will host the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night, and the Ducks will have to start Petr Mrazek over the weekend. Lukas Dostal has started six straight games and desperately needs a rest.
Keep tracking the news. With Mrazek in the crease, the Ducks will struggle to contain the Golden Knights. The Ducks’ offense is lethal, but Anaheim allows 29.8 shots per game, which is a lot. On the other side, the Golden Knights allow the fewest shots per game in the NHL (25.6).
Vegas should take full advantage of Anaheim’s defensive shortcomings. I’m backing the Golden Knights to beat the puckline at plus money.
Over/Under Pick for Ducks vs. Golden Knights
- Over 6.5 (5 units)
I have to look at the over even if Lukas Dostal gets another starting call. Dostal has been solid so far this season, but he’s allowed eight goals over his previous two starts. The Golden Knights are a very dangerous team, and they rank eighth in the NHL in power-play percentage (23.4%). The Ducks are 22nd in penalty killing (75.0%).
On the other side, Akira Schmid is coming off his first shutout in 2025-26. He had 24 saves in a 1-0 victory over the Red Wings. But given the Ducks’ recent run of form, it’s hard to expect Schmid to have another monster game.
