Boston is led by a great offense

The Bruins are having a great season with their offense leading the way, scoring 3.00 goals per game. Morgan Geekie and Pavel Zacha have scored 25 goals and 18 assists, while Elias Lindholm and Casey Middlestadt have combined for nine goals and 15 assists to add depth to the offense.

The offense has stepped up, but the defense hopes to improve, allowing 3.19 goals per game. Nikita Zadorov and Andrew Peeke have combined for 2.6 defensive point shares, but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. The bright spot is the strong play in the net from Jeremy Swayma,n who has allowed only six goals in his last three starts to build on a season where he has a .915 save percentage and a 2.62 goals-against average on 531 shots with 9.7 goals saved above average.

Key injury report for Bruins

  • David Pastrnak (undisclosed) will not be available for the upcoming game. Has 11 goals and 18 assists.
  • Charlie McAvoy (face) started skating this week. Has 12 assists and is a key part of the defense.

Red Wings are a mess on defense

The Red Wings have fallen apart in recent games, with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.88 goals per game. Dylan Larkin, Alex DeBrincat, and Lucas Raymond have combined for 34 goals and 48 assists, but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only four skaters have five goals or more and opponents can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.

The offense has struggled, but the defense has let them down, allowing 3.38 goals per game with 27 goals in the last six games. Moritz Seider and Ben Chairot have combined for 3.6 defensive point shares ,but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. Additionally, goaltender Cam Talbot has struggled in recent games, allowing 11 goals in his last three starts.

Bruins vs Red Wings Pick

Money Line Pick For Bruins vs Red Wings

  • Bruins (+165) (4 units)

The Bruins look to build off a recent win against the Red Wings and take over this game on the road. The Bruins should create plenty of scoring chances against the Red Wings, who allow 3.38 goals per game, with Morgan Geekie and Pavel Zacha carrying the puck into the offensive zone while creating open shots with quick passes. The Bruins should limit the Red Wings' offense with Jeremy Swayman building off of four starts where he’s allowed only six goals and blanking shots on the net while Nikita Zadorov and Andrew Peeke help him out and create turnovers in all three zones. The Bruins should win the game with a strong performance on the road.

Take the Bruins money line as road Favorites.

Over/Under Pick For Bruins vs Red Wings

  • Over 5.5 (5 Units)

Both defenses have struggled, and I see this game being a high-scoring one from the opening puck drop. The Red Wings should pile on the goals against the Bruins, who allow 3.19 goals per game, with Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone while creating open shots with quick passes. The Bruins, who scored three goals against the Red Wings in their last game, should run up the score against the Red Wings, who allowed 27 goals in the last six games, with Morgan Geekie, Pavel Zacha, Casey Middlestadt, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence while creating open shots with quick passes to overwhelm the Red Wings defense. The Over should cover in a high-scoring game with both offenses stepping up.

Take the Over on 5.5 goals.

The Bruins face the Red Wings with both teams on opposite ends of the standings this season.
