Calgary Trying to Find Some Offense, Momentum

Calgary suffered their second straight shutout loss as they were blanked by Minnesota on the road Sunday night. The Flames dropped to 4-11-2 on the year and stand last in the Pacific Division, 13 points behind Anaheim for the top spot. Calgary is 32nd in the league in goals per game as they put up an average of 2.06 goals per contest. The Flames are 19th in the league in goals against by allowing 3.18 goals a night this season. Against Minnesota, Calgary was solid in their own end of the ice but their inability to do anything offensively doomed them to defeat. The Flames held an 11-8 shot advantage in the opening period but skated off with the game scoreless after 20 minutes of play. In the second period, Calgary owned a 12-7 shot edge only to be outscored 1-0 to trail by that margin at the second intermission. The third period saw the Flames hold a 13-4 advantage in shots but gave up the lone goal of the stanza to wind up with the loss. Devin Cooley made 17 saves for Calgary, who owned a 36-19 advantage in shots on goal, in the loss. Dustin Wolf (4-9-1, 3.26 GAA, .893 save percentage) is expected between the pipes for the Flames here.

Defenseman Zayne Parekh (upper body) is week-to-week here. Center Martin Pospisil (undisclosed) and defenseman Kevin Bahl (undisclosed) are both day-to-day.

Blues Hoping to Earn Home Victory

St. Louis couldnโ€™t build off a win over Buffalo as they fell in overtime to Seattle at home Saturday night. Flames vs. Blues Pick

Flames vs. Blues Moneyline Pick

  • Blues -145 (4 units)

Calgary is struggling offensively and coming in off back-to-back shutout losses as they take the ice here. The Flames have been brutal on the road this season, posting a 2-7-1 mark away from the Scotiabank Saddledome. St. Louis hasnโ€™t been all that great either, but they have picked up three of a possible four points in their last two contests. The Blues have had the Flamesโ€™ number of late, winning seven straight contests, including taking the first meeting this season. With Calgary anemic offensively and struggling as the road team, you have to fade them here. Take the Blues at home here.

Flames vs. Blues Over/Under Pick

  • Under 6 (-121) (4 units)

Calgary, despite their offensive woes, has seen the over post an 8-6-3 mark in their 17 games on the year. The Flames have an average total of 5.24 goals per game and that number bumps up to 5.50 goals per game in their seven road tilts. Of course, the Flames average just 1.90 goals per game on the road this season. St. Louis has seen the over post a 10-6 mark in their 16 games in relation to the total this season. The Blues have an average of 6.63 goals per game this season and that number slips to 6.56 goals per game on home ice. We have two offensively challenged units here and as a result, take the under in this contest.
