The 2025-26 NHL season continues Saturday, October 18, with a huge 13-game card, including the Pacific Division showdown at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV, so we’ve prepared the Flames vs. Golden Knights prediction to get you covered.
Calgary meets Vegas for the second time this season. Last Tuesday, the Golden Knights defeated the Flames 4-2 as -170 road favorites, as we saw a push on the total. Vegas is a surefire -255 home fave this time around, and the total sits at 6.0 goals.
Let’s look closer at this Flames vs. Golden Knights prediction, one of our NHL picks for Saturday’s slate. The puck drop at T-Mobile Arena is set at 10:00 PM ET.
The Flames are off to a bad start
The Calgary Flames stunned the Edmonton Oilers in their season opener, earning a 4-3 shootout victory on the road. Since then, it’s been a free fall for the Flames, who have dropped four consecutive games against the Vancouver Canucks 5-1, the St. Louis Blues 4-2, the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2, and the Utah Mammoth 3-1.

Last Wednesday, the Flames had a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period in Salt Lake City. However, Utah outshot Calgary 32-20 on the night and fully deserved to win. The Flames went 1-for-4 with the man advantage and killed all six of the Mammoth’s power-play opportunities, but it wasn’t enough.
Devin Cooley made his season debut last Wednesday, giving up two goals on 31 shots. Dustin Wolf is expected to return to the crease on Saturday, and the 24-year-old netminder carries an ugly 3.77 GAA and a .873 save percentage.
The Flames have only allowed three power-play goals on 20 opportunities so far this season. However, they are just 3-for-19 with the man advantage. Matt Coronato leads the way for the Flames with two goals and an assist, while Nazem Kadri has three assists on his season tally.
The Golden Knights aim for their third straight victory
The Vegas Golden Knights started their 2025-26 campaign with a 6-5 shootout defeat to the Los Angeles Kings. After a 4-3 overtime win at the San Jose Sharks and a 2-1 overtime defeat at the Seattle Kraken, the Golden Knights strung together wins over the Calgary Flames 4-2 and the Boston Bruins.
Last Thursday, the Golden Knights outshot the Bruins 37-24, but they nearly blew a three-goal lead. William Karlsson led the charge for Vegas with two goals, while Mark Stone accounted for three assists. The Golden Knights went 2-for-6 with the man advantage.
Adin Hill served as a backup for the Bruins game due to a lower-body injury. Hill suffered an injury in that road victory over the Flames when Akira Schmid finished the game. Schmid is 3-0-0 with a 3.00 GAA and a .879 save percentage this season.
The Golden Knights are 6-for-21 with the man advantage and 8-for-12 with the man down. Jack Eichel has already amassed five goals and six assists this season, while Stone has recorded nine assists.
Flames vs. Golden Knights Pick
Spread Pick for Flames vs. Golden Knights
- Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (5 units)
The Golden Knights outshot the Flames 30-29 this past Tuesday. Vegas overcame a 2-0 deficit, and Akira Schmid stopped all 19 shots he faced. Jack Eichel scored a couple of goals, while Tomas Hertl notched his first goal of the season, sealing the victory with an empty-netter. Dustin Wolf posted 26 saves for the Flames.
Vegas looks like a much better offensive team than Calgary. The Golden Knights have some defensive issues, but I expect their offense to make a difference once more. Hereof, I’m backing the Golden Knights to beat the puckline.
Over/Under Pick for Flames vs. Golden Knights
- Over 6.0 (5 units)
With Akira Schmid in the crease, the Golden Knights shut the Flames down last Tuesday. However, Schmid gave up five goals on just 24 shots just two days later. As I mentioned, the Golden Knights have some defensive issues, so I cannot trust them even with Adin Hill between the pipes.
I certainly trust the Golden Knights to outscore the Flames. They combined for six goals last Tuesday, and I can only look at the over in this game. Vegas looks like one of the best offensive teams in the NHL. Jack Eichel and Mark Stone are both off to a strong start.
