Blackhawks Seeking to Earn Back-to-Back Wins
Chicago was just 2-6-2 in their previous 10 games but blanked the Rangers on home ice in an Original Six clash Wednesday night in their previous contest. The Blackhawks entered Thursday fifth in the Central Division with a 13-11-6 record and stand 17 points behind the Avalanche for the top spot. Chicago is 19th on the season when it comes to scoring production as they average 2.97 goals per game. Against the Rangers, Chicago bounced back after giving up 53 shots and seven goals against the Ducks to earn the shutout victory. The Blackhawks owned a 10-6 advantage in shots in the opening period of play but the teams skated off with the game scoreless after the opening 20 minutes of play. In the second period, Chicago was outshot 11-8 but outscored New York 2-0 to lead by that margin at the second intermission. Louis Crevier opened the scoring with his third goal of the season, shorthanded, at 7:08 off assists from Matt Grzelcyk and Jason Dickinson. Connor Bedard made it a 2-0 game with his 19th goal of the year at 14:27 with Andre Burakovsky drawing the lone assist. Chicago owned a 7-4 edge in shots in third period and scored the lone goal to secure the victory. Tyler Bertuzzi closed the scoring with his 16th goal of the year at 3:52 with assists going to Ryan Greene and Bedard. Spencer Knight made 21 saves for the Blackhawks, who held a 25-21 advantage in shots, to earn the shutout win. St. Louis Playing Second Game of Back-to-Back
St. Louis was in action on the road against Nashville in the front half of a back-to-back set that concludes here. The Blues entered Thursday 11-13-7 on the season and were tied for sixth in the Central Division, 20 points behind Colorado for the top spot in the Central Division. St. Louis is 30th in the league in goals for as they average 2.55 goals a contest this season. The Blues stand 27th in the league in goals against as they allow an average of 3.45 goals a night. St. Louis is 14th in power play success as they cash in on 19.8% of their chances with the man advantage this season. The Blues are 25th in penalty killing as they successfully navigate 77.9% of their shorthanded situations this year.
Against Boston Tuesday night in their previous game, St. Louis struggled defensively and that proved costly on the road. The Blues were outshot 11-10 in the opening period but skated off with a 1-0 advantage on the scoreboard at the first intermission. Robert Thomas opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the year, on the power play, at 5:27 off assists from Pavel Buchnevich and Justin Faulk. In the second period, St. Louis was outshot 13-3 and outscored 2-0 to trail 2-1 after 40 minutes of play. The third period saw the Blues own a 13-7 advantage in shots but they were outscored 3-1 to wind up with the loss. Thomas tied the game with his second goal of the game and sixth of the year at 4:51 off an assist from Buchnevich. They gave up the go-ahead goal just over three minutes later and never recovered. Joel Hofer made 26 saves for the Blues, who were outshot 31-26, in the loss. Jordan Binnington was slated to get the start Thursday night in Nashville, so Hofer is likely between the pipes here.

Blackhawks vs. Blues Pick
Blackhawks vs. Blues Moneyline Pick
- Blackhawks +128 (4 units)
St. Louis has been challenged offensively all season long and they’ll be dealing with a fatigue factor here. The marks the second game of a back-to-back set and their third game in four nights, which will make things even more difficult for a team that struggles to dent the twine. Chicago bounced back from a pair of blowout losses against the Kings and Ducks by blanking a Rangers squad that leads the league with 12 road victories. The Blackhawks have the rest advantage and are better on both ends of the ice. Look for Knight to do another solid job between the pipes and lead the visitors to a victory here.
Blackhawks vs. Blues Over/Under Pick
- Under 6 (4 units)
Chicago has stayed under the total in 15 of their 30 games, with one push in relation to the total, with an average total of 5.93 goals per game entering Thursday night. That number does climb to 6.53 goals per game as the visiting team in their 15 road tilts. St. Louis has seen the under post a 16-15 mark in their 31 games in relation to the total this season entering Thursday. The Blues have an average of six goals per game this season and that number edges up to 6.19 goals per game at home this season. Lean toward this contest falling under the total as the Blues struggle offensively again, as they battle fatigue.
