The Colorado Avalanche have won four of their last five games overall (4-0-1 record), sandwiching a 4-3 shootout defeat at the Nashville Predators with a couple of road wins against the New York Rangers 3-2 OT and the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2, and a pair of home victories over the Florida Panthers 6-2 and the Nashville Predators 4-2.

Last Saturday, the Avs avenged that shootout loss in Nashville. They outshot the Predators 41-29 in front of the home fans, and Nathan MacKinnon led the way with a goal and an assist. Scott Wedgewood posted 27 saves, advancing to 13-1-4 on the season.
Wedgewood boasts a 2.11 GAA and a .920 save percentage this season, while Mackenzie Blackwood carries a 9-1-1 record with a 2.19 GAA and a .920 save percentage. Blackwood is expected to patrol the crease on Tuesday against the Kraken.
The Avs allow just 2.19 goals per game (1st in the NHL) and score 4.00 goals in return (also 1st). MacKinnon has been unstoppable this season, notching 26 goals and 29 assists, while Martin Necas has amassed 14 goals and 29 assists.
The Kraken continue to struggle
The Seattle Kraken have dropped eight of their previous nine games overall (1-7-1 record). After stopping a six-game slide with a 3-2 overtime victory against the Los Angeles Kings, the Kraken have lost consecutive games against the Utah Mammoth 5-3 on the road and the Buffalo Sabres 3-1 at home.
Last Sunday, the Kraken outshot the Sabres 24-23 while going 1-for-3 with the man advantage. Chandler Stephenson’s sixth goal of the season was the only thing we saw from Seattle’s slumping offense. Joey Daccord gave up two goals on 20 shots, falling to 8-8-4 on the season.
Daccord has a 2.89 GAA and a .893 save percentage in 2025-26, while Philipp Grubauer is 4-2-1 with a 2.61 GAA and a .900 save percentage. The Kraken allow 3.00 goals per game (tied for 15th in the NHL) while scoring just 2.47 goals in return (32nd).
Jordan Eberle leads the way for the Kraken with nine goals and 10 assists, while Vince Dunn has accounted for five goals and 13 assists. Seattle cannot count on forwards Jaden Schwartz (G8, A7) and Jared McCann (G5, A3) due to injuries.
Avalanche vs. Kraken Pick
Spread Pick for Avalanche vs. Kraken
- Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (5 units)
I’m not going to overthink this game. The Kraken have struggled on both sides of the puck lately and have missed a couple of very important players. Whoever gets the starting call in the crease will have a tall task to slow the Avs down, so I’m backing Colorado to beat the puckline.
Seattle has allowed at least three goals in seven of its previous eight games overall. During that stretch, the Kraken have scored more than three goals just once. It was in an ugly 9-4 defeat at the Edmonton Oilers. I would be shocked to see the Kraken getting anything from this game.
Over/Under Pick for Avalanche vs. Kraken
- Over 5.5 (5 units)
The Avs’ offense has been lethal at even strength so far this season. Colorado leads the league in expected goals for, whereas Seattle is dead last in this category.
Interestingly, the Avs are 28th in the NHL in power-play percentage (17-for-111, 15.3%). This game is a perfect opportunity for Colorado to get things going with the man advantage because Seattle holds the worst penalty-killing percentage in the league (67.5%).
Hereof, I will rely on the Avs’ offense and take the over. No team takes more shots than Colorado (34.7 per game). Hopefully, Seattle will manage to score a goal or two and help the over backers. Four of the last five encounters between Colorado and Seattle have produced more than five goals in total.
