Colorado Avalanche (27-2-7) vs. Vegas Golden Knights (17-8-10)

The NHL betting action is back following a Christmas break, and Saturday brings a huge 13-game card, including the Western Conference clash from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV, so we’ve prepared the Avalanche vs. Golden Knights prediction to get you covered.

Colorado meets Vegas for the second time this season. On the last day of October, the Avalanche beat the Golden Knights 4-2 at T-Mobile Arena. Now, Colorado is looking for its fourth straight victory over Vegas.

The Avalanche eye their seventh straight W

The Colorado Avalanche boast the best record in the NHL. They’ve been unstoppable lately and are undefeated in six straight outings. During that stretch, the Avs have scored 24 goals while yielding just 10 goals in return.

Colorado is coming off Tuesday’s 1-0 home win over the Utah Mammoth. Defenseman Samuel Girard scored his second goal of the season, while Scott Wedgewood posted 32 saves for his second shutout in 2025-26.

Wedgewood is 16-1-4 with a shiny 2.01 GAA and a .924 save percentage this season, while Mackenzie Blackwood carries an 11-1-1 record with a 2.16 GAA and a .924 save percentage. The Avs have alternated goaltenders in their last eight outings.

Colorado leads the league in both goals for (3.94 per game) and goals against (2.11). Center Nathan MacKinnon has been unstoppable thus far, notching 30 goals and 31 assists in 36 games, while fellow center Martin Necas has amassed 16 goals and 31 assists.

The Golden Knights hope to stay on track

The Vegas Golden Knights put an end to their three-game losing streak last Tuesday. After consecutive defeats against the New Jersey Devils 2-1 SO, the Calgary Flames 6-3, and the Edmonton Oilers 4-3, the Golden Knights dismantled the San Jose Sharks 7-2.

The Golden Knights had a 5-0 lead at the end of the first period last Tuesday. They needed just 26 shots toward San Jose’s net to score seven goals, and winger Mitch Marner led the charge with a couple of goals. Carter Hart gave up two goals on 23 shots.

Hart is now 4-1-2 with a 2.48 GAA and a .904 save percentage in 2025-26, while Akira Schmid is 11-3-4 with a 2.48 GAA and a .896 save percentage. The Golden Knights cannot count on their starting goalie Adin Hill, who’s recovering from a lower-body injury.

Vegas is tied with Anaheim and Edmonton for the top spot in the Pacific Division. The Golden Knights score 3.11 goals per game (tied for 13th in the NHL) and allow 2.86 goals in return (10th). Center Jack Eichel leads the way with 12 goals and 29 assists, while Marner has recorded nine goals and 29 assists.

Avalanche vs. Golden Knights Pick

Moneyline Pick for Avalanche vs. Golden Knights

  • Colorado Avalanche (5 units)

Jack Eichel missed four straight games with a lower-body injury and is questionable for Saturday’s game against Colorado. If he remains on the shelf, the Golden Knights will have a mountain to climb, given the way the Avalanche have been playing lately.

Anyway, it’s really hard to go against the Avs. At even strength, their offense has been ridiculous. Colorado is just 20-for-124 with the man advantage (16.1%, 27th in the NHL), while the Avs’ penalty killing has been outstanding thus far (85.4%, 1st).

Moreover, the Avs’ goaltending duo boasts the best save percentage in the league (.922), whereas the Golden Knights’ netminders rank 22nd in this category (.886).

Over/Under Pick for Avalanche vs. Golden Knights

  • Over 6.0 (5 units)

I don’t care about Colorado’s poor power-play percentage. The Avs have been lethal five-on-five, and no team has allowed fewer power-play opportunities than the Golden Knights, who are 12th in the NHL in penalty killing (81.4%) and sixth in power-play percentage (25.9%).

Vegas is a solid defensive team, though the Golden Knights’ goaltending has been inconsistent this season. Whoever gets the starting call will have a tall task to slow the Avs down. The Golden Knights have enough weapons to score a couple of goals, even if Jack Eichel remains on the sidelines, so I will take the over.
