Use Code WWWC Edmonton Oilers (4-3-1) vs. Vancouver Canucks (4-4-0)
The 2025-26 NHL season continues Sunday, October 26, with the Edmonton Oilers facing off against the Vancouver Canucks in the Pacific Division showdown at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC, and we’ve got the Oilers vs. Canucks prediction along with the latest odds update.
Edmonton takes on Vancouver for the second time this season. A couple of weeks ago, the Oilers beat the Canucks 3-1 as -175 home favorites, and the game went under the six-goal line. Edmonton is a -140 road fave for Sunday’s clash, while the total sits at six goals once more.

Saturday’s games have been excluded from the analysis. This preview was published before Saturday’s results, and both Edmonton and Vancouver took the ice on Saturday night. The Oilers visited the Seattle Kraken, while the Canucks hosted the Montreal Canadiens.

The Oilers are off to a shaky start
The Edmonton Oilers started the season with two wins in three games, including that 3-1 victory over the Canucks. After dropping three consecutive games against the New York Islanders 4-2, the New Jersey Devils 5-3, and the Detroit Tigers 4-2, the Oilers strung together a couple of wins over the Ottawa Senators 3-2 in overtime and the Montreal Canadiens 6-5.
Last Thursday, the Oilers overcame a 5-3 deficit. Calvin Pickard gave up five goals on 27 shots, while six Oilers found the back of the net. Connor McDavid finished the game with three assists, and the seven-time All-Star had 11 points (G1, A10) on his season tally on Saturday morning.
Stuart Skinner was confirmed for Saturday’s clash against the Kraken, so we’ll see Calvin Pickard in the crease on Sunday night. Pickard is 2-1-0 with a troublesome 3.37 GAA and a .844 save percentage in 2025-26. He gave up one goal on 15 shots in that home victory over Vancouver earlier this month.
The Canucks lack consistency, too
The Vancouver Canucks started their 2025-26 campaign with two losses in three games. They just finished a five-game road trip with a 3-2-0 record. After three straight victories over the Dallas Stars 5-3, the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in a shootout, and the Washington Capitals 4-3, the Canucks dropped consecutive games against the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 and the Nashville Predators 2-1.
Last Thursday, the Canucks took just 22 shots toward Nashville’s goaltender. Max Sasson scored his third goal of the season, while Linus Karlsson posted his second assist in 2025-26. Thatcher Demko yielded two goals on 35 shots, falling to 3-2-0 on the season.
Demko was expected to guard the cage against the Canadiens on Saturday. Hereof, we should see Kevin Lankinen in the net when the Oilers come to town. Lankinen is 1-2-0 with an underwhelming 3.60 GAA and a .883 save percentage this season.
Oilers vs. Canucks Pick
Moneyline Pick for Oilers vs. Canucks
- Edmonton Oilers (5 units)
The probable goaltending duo doesn’t breed confidence, so I will lean on the Oilers’ offense to make a difference. Edmonton is arguably a better offensive team than Vancouver. The Oilers dominated the Canucks two weeks ago, outshooting Vancouver 37-15 on the night. Thatcher Demko was excellent for the Canucks, but it wasn’t enough.
Edmonton is sixth in the league in power-play percentage (7-for-25), while Vancouver ranks 27th in this category (4-for-28). Moreover, just two teams (Seattle and Winnipeg) have created fewer high-danger scoring chances than Vancouver. The Canucks have only won one of their previous six games against the Oilers.
Vancouver cannot count on center Filip Chytil, winger Nils Hoglander, and defenseman Derek Forbort, while center Teddy Blueger is questionable to play. Edmonton misses wingers Zach Hyman and Kasperi Kapanen.
Over/Under Pick for Oilers vs. Canucks
- Over 6.0 (5 units)
As I said, it’s hard to trust the probable goaltending duo in this game. Both Calvin Pickard and Kevin Lankinen have struggled thus far. The Canucks’ offense has struggled, too, but I have to go with the over on the total.
Should Edmonton take 37 shots toward Vancouver’s goalie once more, the Canucks will be in trouble. The Oilers have a ton of dangerous weapons up front, but their defense hasn’t impressed so far this season. With Pickard in the crease, the Canucks have a chance to score more than a goal.
