Los Angeles Kings (10-6-4) vs. San Jose Sharks (9-8-3)

The 2025-26 NHL season continues Thursday, November 20, with the Los Angeles Kings facing off against the San Jose Sharks in the Pacific Division battle at SAP Center at San Jose, so we’ve got the Kings vs. Sharks prediction to get you prepared.

The Kings meet the Sharks for the second time this term. Last month, the Kings outlasted the Sharks 4-3 as -220 road favorites, and the game went over the six-goal line. Los Angeles is a -170 road fave this time around, while the total sits at 5.5 goals.

The Kings look to get back on track

The Los Angeles Kings will close down their six-game road trip on Thursday night. They are coming off Monday’s 2-1 defeat at the Washington Capitals, which put an end to the Kings’ four-game winning streak.

The Kings outshot the Capitals 31-25 but couldn’t find a way to overcome a two-goal deficit. Anze Kopitar converted one of three power plays for his third goal of the season, while Darcy Kuemper gave up two goals on 25 shots.

Kuemper is now 7-4-3 with a 2.42 GAA and a .904 save percentage in 2025-26, while Anton Forsberg is 3-2-1 with a 2.96 GAA and a .890 save percentage. Forsberg recorded his first shutout of the season last Saturday, as the Kings outlasted the Ottawa Senators 1-0.

The Kings allow 2.70 goals per game (6th in the NHL) and score 2.75 goals in return (25th). Winger Adrian Kempe leads the way for Los Angeles with six goals and 13 assists, though he hasn’t found the back of the net in six straight games. Defenseman Drew Doughty (G2, A6) is on the IR.

Key Injuries for Kings:

  • D Drew Doughty was placed on the IR on Wednesday. He has 2g, 6a.

The Sharks lean on Macklin Celebrini

The San Jose Sharks snapped their two-game skid last Tuesday. After consecutive road defeats against the Calgary Flames 2-0 and the Seattle Kraken 4-1, the Sharks outlasted the Utah Mammoth 3-2 in overtime at home.

San Jose blew a two-goal lead against Utah, but center Macklin Celebrini completed his hat trick in overtime to lift the Sharks over the Mammoth. It was his second hat trick of the season, and the No. 1 pick from the 2024 NHL Draft now has 10 goals and 17 assists in 2025-26.

Yaroslav Askarov posted 24 saves last Tuesday, advancing to 5-5-1 on the season. The 23-year-old goalie holds a 3.09 GAA and a .906 save percentage, while Alex Nedeljkovic is 3-3-2 with a 2.97 GAA and a .902 save percentage.

The Sharks allow 3.20 goals per game (tied for 22nd in the NHL) and score 2.95 goals in return (tied for 21st). They miss winger Jeff Skinner (G4, A3) and center Michael Misa (G1, A2).

Key Injuries for Sharks:

  • LW Jeff Skinner (lower body) is on the IR and will miss 2-3 weeks. Has 4g, 3a

Kings vs. Sharks Pick

Moneyline Pick for Kings vs. Sharks

  • San Jose Sharks (5 units)

The Kings will face the Sharks on the front end of a back-to-back. They will host the Boston Bruins on Friday, so I assume the Kings will start Darcy Kuemper against San Jose.

Los Angeles has won eight of its previous 10 road contests, but this is a tough spot for the Kings. They close down a six-game road trip, traveling all the way from Washington, D.C.

I’m tempted by the Sharks at +140. Yaroslav Askarov hasn’t allowed more than two goals in six straight starts and boasts a 1.19 GAA and a .971 save percentage in November.

Moreover, the Sharks outshot the Kings 40-14 in that 4-3 home loss last month. Since then, Askarov has been ridiculous, and the Sharks have won five of their next six home games.

Over/Under Pick for Kings vs. Sharks

  • Over 5.5 (5 units)

The Kings lean on their defense and Darcy Kuemper’s goaltending. However, Drew Doughty’s absence is a huge blow for the Kings’ blueline. They might struggle at the end of a long road trip, and the Sharks are a dangerous offensive team. As I noted, San Jose took a whopping 40 shots toward Darcy Kuemper in their first meeting of the season.

It’s a tough wager, but with the line sitting at 5.5 goals, I will take the over. These two teams have provided some proper high-scoring head-to-head duels lately. Los Angeles and San Jose have combined for 25 goals in their previous three encounters.
