Los Angeles is led by a great defense

The Kings are having a great season despite their offense struggling and scoring only 2.58 goals per game. Adrian Kempe and Kevin Fiala have scored 36 goals and 43 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only six skaters have 10 goals or more and opponents can eliminate the hapless offense.

The offense has struggled but the defense is one of the best in the NHL, allowing only 2.73 goals per game with only seven goals in the last three games. Brandt Clarke and Joel Edmundson have combined for 6.8 defensive point shares while Michael Anderson and Brian Dumoulin have combined for 5.6 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. With the Kings playing the second of a back-to-back, the hope is that Anton Forsberg keeps playing well, as he’s allowed only two goals in his last two starts.

Key injury report for Kings

  • No key injuries to report.

Hurricanes are led by a great offense

The Hurricanes are having a great season with their offense leading the way, scoring 3.42 goals per game, including 13 goals in the last three games. Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov have scored 37 goals and 61 assists while Seth Jarvis and Nikolaj Ehlers have combined for 37 goals and 44 assists to add depth to the forward group.

The offense has carried them but the defense has also been great, allowing only 2.85 goals per game. Jalen Chatfield and Alexander Nikishin have combined for 6.0 defensive point shares while K’Andre Miller and Shayne Gostisbehere have combined for 4.4 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. Additionally, goaltender Brandon Bussi has been incredible in the net, allowing only seven goals in his last four starts.

Kings vs Hurricanes Pick

Money Line Pick For Kings vs Hurricanes

  • Hurricanes -1.5 (+140) (4 units)

The Kings are having a great season but they run into a remarkable Hurricanes team that looks to take over this game from the first period. The Hurricanes, who have scored 13 goals in their last three games, should pile on the goals with Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone while creating open shots with quick passes. The Hurricanes, who allow only 2.85 goals per game, should limit the Kings offense with K’Andre Miller, Jalen Chatfield, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone while limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Brandon Bussi to make plenty of big saves. The Hurricanes should win the game and cover the spread in a dominant performance on their home ice.

Over/Under Pick For Kings vs Hurricanes

  • Under 5.5 (5 Units)

The Kings and Hurricanes have great defenses that look to make this game a low-scoring one from the opening puck drop. The Kings, who allow only 2.73 goals per game, should limit the Hurricanes offense with Brandt Clarke, Michael Anderson, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone while limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Anton Forsberg to make plenty of big saves. The Hurricanes should eliminate a Kings offense that averages only 2.58 goals per game, with Brandon Bussi, who has allowed only seven goals in his last four games, blanking the shots on the net while K’Andre Miller, Jalen Chatfield, and the rest of the defense create turnovers in front of him. The Under should cover in a low-scoring game with both defenses stepping up.

Take the Over on 5.5 goals.
