The 2025 NHL Frozen Frenzy is upon us, and the Los Angeles Kings head to SAP Center at San Jose on Tuesday night to face off against the San Jose Sharks, so we have prepared the Kings vs. Sharks prediction to get you covered.
Los Angeles and San Jose open their three-game regular-season series. Last season, they split a four-game series, with each team emerging victorious on the home ice.
Let’s take a closer look at this Kings vs. Sharks prediction, one of our NHL picks for the 2025 Frozen Frenzy. The puck drop at SAP Center at San Jose is set at 11:00 PM ET, and the Kings open as -190 moneyline favorites with a total of 6.0 goals.
The Kings wrap up a five-game road trip
The Los Angeles Kings have struggled a lot through the first two weeks of the season, winning just one of their first six games. Since then, the Kings have gone 3-0-1 while playing away from home. Interestingly, six of their first 10 contests have gone overtime.

Last Sunday, the Kings beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1. After a 5-4 shootout defeat at Nashville last Saturday, when the Kings outshot the Predators 40-25, Los Angeles needed just 22 shots to score three goals and prevail over Chicago.
Darcy Kuemper is expected to guard the cage on Tuesday night. The veteran netminder is 2-2-2 with a 2.78 GAA and a .887 save percentage this season, while Anton Forsberg is 2-1-1 with a 3.19 GAA and a .894 save percentage.
The Kings score 2.80 goals per game (tied for 23rd in the NHL) while going 6-for-28 with the man advantage (tied for 15th). Winger Adrian Kempe leads the way for LA with five goals and eight assists in 10 games. Fellow winger Warren Foegele (G1) is questionable for Tuesday’s game against San Jose, while all other guys are ready to go.
The Sharks hope to stay on track
The San Jose Sharks started their 2025-26 campaign with a six-game losing streak. Since then, the Sharks have gone 2-1-0, sandwiching a 3-1 defeat at the New Jersey Devils with a couple of 6-5 overtime wins at the New York Rangers and Minnesota Wild.
Last Sunday, the Sharks blew a 5-3 lead, but Macklin Celebrini’s sixth goal of the season lifted San Jose over Minnesota in overtime. Celebrini finished the game with a goal and two assists, while William Eklund had two goals and an assist.
Through the first nine games of the season, Celebrini has amassed a staggering six goals and nine assists. The Sharks tally 3.22 goals per game (14th in the NHL) while going 9-for-32 with the man advantage (tied for 6th). Defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin is on the IR, while fellow defensemen John Klingberg and Nick Leddy are considered day-to-day.
Yaroslav Askarov has guarded the cage over the last two games. The 23-year-old netminder is 1-3-1 with an ugly 4.79 GAA and a .855 save percentage in 2025-26, while Alex Nedeljkovic is 1-2-1 with a 4.00 GAA and a .874 save percentage.
D Nick Leddy, D John Kingberg and RW Adam Gaudette are day-to-day.
Kings vs. Sharks Pick
Moneyline Pick for Kings vs. Sharks
- San Jose Sharks (5 units)
There’s no way I’m going to take the Kings at -190. I can’t take them at the puckline either. As I noted, six of the Kings’ 10 games have gone overtime.
On the other side, the Sharks look like the worst defensive team in the NHL. They are dead last in goals against (4.67 per game). At least, the Sharks can score, so I will hold my nose and take San Jose at +160. San Jose is fourth in the NHL in shooting percentage (13.4%), whereas Los Angeles ranks 26th in this category (9.6%).
In their previous encounter, the Kings dismantled the Sharks 8-1 in LA. Their last meeting in San Jose saw the Sharks trounce the Kings 7-2.
Over/Under Pick for Kings vs. Sharks
- Over 6.0 (5 units)
Betting on the over seems like a way to go in this game. The Sharks’ defense has been terrible so far this season, but San Jose’s offense has been pretty solid. On the other side, the Kings have been inconsistent on both sides of the puck.
These two teams have struggled to defend with a man down, allowing 11 power-play goals each. No team has allowed more power-play goals than LA and San Jose, and the Kings have allowed the most power-play opportunities (42).
Five of the last seven encounters between Los Angeles and San Jose have produced at least six goals in total.
