The LA Kings have been pretty inconsistent lately, going 4-3-3 in their previous 10 games overall. The Kings will try to stay on the winning path when they visit Seattle, having beaten the Chicago Blackhawks 6-0 and the Utah Mammoth 4-2 in their last two outings.

Last Saturday, the Kings dismantled the Blackhawks after a scoreless first period. Defenseman Brandt Clarke scored a couple of goals, while Darcy Kuemper posted 23 saves for his second shutout of the season. Two days later, Kuemper had 19 saves against the Mammoth, and winger Joel Armia netted two goals.

Winger Adrian Kempe leads the charge for the Kings with 10 goals and 16 assists, while fellow winger Kevin Fiala has amassed 10 goals and 11 assists this season. Kempe has recorded three goals and three assists over his last five games.
The Kraken are slumping big-time
The Seattle Kraken extended their losing streak to six games last Monday, suffering a 4-1 home defeat against the Minnesota Kraken. During that stretch, the Kraken have only scored 10 goals while surrendering 24 in return.
Minnesota outshot Seattle 29-24 on the night, and the Wild scored three unanswered goals in the third period, including a couple of empty-netters. Winger Jordan Eberle converted one of Seattle’s three power-play opportunities, while Philipp Grubauer gave up two goals on 27 shots.
Grubauer fell to 4-1-1 on the season. He has a 2.54 GAA and a .900 save percentage, while Joey Daccord is 7-7-4 with a 2.99 GAA and a .891 save percentage this season. Daccord is winless in five consecutive starts.
Seattle allows 2.96 goals per game (15th in the NHL) and scores just 2.48 goals in return (tied for 31st). Eberle leads the way for the Kraken with nine goals and eight assists, while center Matty Beniers has recorded three goals and 13 assists. Centers Jaden Schwartz (G8, A7) and Berkly Catton (A5) are out with injuries.

Joey Daccord has allowed 16 goals over his previous four starts, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Philipp Grubauer in the crease once more when the Kings come to town. Anyway, I hope the Kings will give Darcy Kuemper another starting call. Kuemper is 2-2-0 with a shiny 1.53 GAA and a .942 save percentage in December.
Both teams have struggled to score all season. The Kings have gotten things going in their last two outings, whereas the Kraken’s offense has been awful lately. Hereof, I can only look at the Kings in this matchup.

The Kings have scored 10 goals over their last two outings, but it’s hard to back the over in this game. Los Angeles is still in the bottom six in the league in goals for, and the Kings’ power-play percentage is the worst in the NHL (13.6%). On the other side, no team has scored fewer goals than Seattle, and the Kraken rank 22nd in power-play percentage (17.5%).
The only problem for the under backers is the Kraken’s penalty killing, which is dead last in the NHL (66.2%). But given Seattle’s offensive woes, the under is a way to go when it comes to the total in this matchup.
