Kings are let down by offense

The Kings are having a great season despite their offense struggling and scoring only 2.57 goals per game. Adrian Kempe, Kevin Fiala, and Quinton Byfield have scored 49 goals and 64 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. The hope is that Artemi Panarin adds a spark as the star winger was acquired this week and is a playmaker in the top six.

The offense has struggled but the defense has carried them, allowing only 2.72 goals per game. Brandt Clarke and Joel Edmundson have combined for 6.7 defensive point shares while Drew Doughty and Brian Dumoulin have combined for 6.0 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Anton Forsberg has stepped up lately, allowing only five goals in his last three starts.

Key injury report for Kings

  • Michael Anderson is day-to-day. Is a key part of the defense.

Vegas is led by a great offense

The Golden Knights are having a great season with their offense leading the way, scoring 3.29 goals per game. Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner have scored 34 goals and 86 assists while Mark Stone, Tomas Hertl, and Pavel Dorofeyev have combined for 66 goals and 78 assists to add depth to the forward unit, making the Golden Knights offense tough to stop.

The offense has stepped up but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.09 goals per game. Shea Theodore and Kaeden Korczak have combined for 6.2 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone while finding open looks on the net. In addition, goaltender Adin Hill has struggled in the net, allowing 14 goals in the last three starts.

Kings vs Golden Knights Pick

Money Line Pick For Kings vs Golden Knights

  • Golden Knights (-140) (4 units)

The Kings look to head into the break on a high note but I see the Golden Knights stepping up on their home ice and taking over this game. The Golden Knights should constantly find the back of the net with Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone while creating open shots with quick passes. The Golden Knights should limit a Kings offense that averages only 2.57 goals per game, with Shea Theodore and Kaeden Korczak creating turnovers in the defensive zone while limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Adin Hill to make plenty of big saves. The Golden Knights should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice.

Take the Golden Knights money line as home Favorites.

Over/Under Pick For Kings vs Golden Knights

  • Over 6 (5 Units)

The Golden Knights are led by their offense, and I see this game being a high-scoring one from the opening puck drop. The Kings should create plenty of scoring chances against the Golden Knights, who allow 3.09 goals per game, with Adrian Kempe, Kevin Fiala, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone while creating open shots with quick passes. The Golden Knights, who average 3.29 goals per game, should run up the score with Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner, Tomas Hertl, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with effective puck movement to overwhelm the Golden Knights defense. The Over should cover in a high-scoring game with both offenses stepping up.

Take the Over on 6 goals.
