Last Saturday, Minnesota outshot Vancouver 30-20. Matt Boldy scored his 16th goal of the season to give the Wild an early lead, but the Canucks responded with four straight goals. Jesper Wallstedt guarded the cage for Minnesota and fell to 8-1-2 on the season.
Wallstedt still boasts a shiny 1.95 GAA and a .936 save percentage. He’s already amassed four shutouts this season. Filip Gustavsson is 7-8-3 with a 2.76 GAA, .905 save percentage, and two shutouts in 2025-26.
The Wild lean on their defense and goaltending. Minnesota allows 2.72 goals per game (8th in the NHL) and scores just 2.69 goals in return (26th). Just three teams have a worse shooting percentage than Minnesota (9.6%).
The Kraken look to snap their five-game skid
The Seattle Kraken extended their losing streak to five games last Saturday, suffering a 4-3 home defeat against the Detroit Red Wings. During that five-game stretch, the Kraken have only scored nine goals while surrendering 20 goals in return.
Joey Daccord has guarded the cage in each of those five losses. Last Thursday, Daccord gave up five goals on just 14 shots in a 9-4 defeat at the Edmonton Oilers. Philipp Grubauer yielded four goals on 14 shots in relief.
Against the Red Wings, Daccord yielded four goals on 25 shots. He’s now 7-7-4 with a 2.99 GAA and a .891 save percentage in 2025-26. Grubauer is 4-0-1 with a 2.63 GAA and a .895 save percentage, while Matt Murray (0-2-1; 2.21 GAA; .922 SV%) is on the IR.
Seattle allows 2.92 goals per game (15th in the NHL) and tallies just 2.54 goals in return (30th). The Kraken are 22nd in power-play percentage (13-for-77) and tied for 19th in shooting percentage (10.2%). They cannot count on Jaden Schwartz, who’s amassed eight goals and seven assists across 23 games this season.
Wild vs. Kraken Pick
Moneyline Pick for Wild vs. Kraken
- Minnesota Wil -130 (5 units)
Joey Daccord has struggled a lot lately, and the Kraken might turn to Philipp Grubauer on Monday night. Grubauer posted a 2.14 GAA and a .917 save percentage in November (three starts and one relief app), but he was awful in that relief appearance against the Oilers.
Seattle obviously doesn’t trust Grubauer, so why should I? Even if Daccord gets another starting call, I can only look at the Wild despite their offensive woes. Seattle’s offense has struggled, too, and I will lean on Minnesota’s defense to make a difference. Whoever gets the nod for the Wild will give his team a chance.
Over/Under Pick for Wild vs. Kraken
- Under 5.5 (5 units)
Four of the previous five encounters between Minnesota and Seattle have gone over the total. On the other hand, the under is 4-1 in Minnesota’s last five games overall and 5-2 in Seattle’s last seven.
Both teams have struggled to score all season, so I have to go with the under. The Wild’s goaltending duo has done a great job thus far, and Minnesota’s penalty killing has been solid (81.2%, 15th in the NHL). On the other side, Seattle is dead last in the league in penalty killing (64.8%). At least, Minnesota is the only team with fewer power-play opportunities against Seattle.
